Pocket Dump of the Day: Ventilate or Hydrate?

Daniel's everydaycarry.com pocket dump

Daniel’s everydaycarry.com pocket dump features an item I’ve never seen before: a Thermos. Quite how he fits that enormous cylindrical tube in his pants — and what Slovakian women make of it — is an open question. So I’ll ask a closed one: do you take your hydration, your health seriously? I ask this because . . .

It’s odd that so many OFWGs are so well armed and so fat.

I would never suggest that an American’s natural, civil and Constitutionally protected right to bear arms should be tied to their weight or body mass index. Nor should anyone’s right to bear arms depend on the odds of an attack (ask New Jersey residents how that works out). But most Americans are more likely to die from a weight-related disease than a violent assault.

Lose the weight, take the 43. Like that. Yes?

Agreed. If people of the gun spent half as much time exercising as they do discussing gunfight tactics their average life expectancies would definitely go up. Its much less fun though 🙂

    1. avatar Bloving says:

It’s not impossible, but it does take some selfdicipline.
If I were to dump the entire contents of my edc backpack, you would see the elastic bands I use for resistance exercises between customers. Couple that with regular walks in the evening with the wife and I’m happy to say I’m merely a OWG with a gun rather than a OFWG… and with pretty thick arms too.
As for the hydration – it never occurred to me to mention my insulated coffee cup that gets washed out after the coffee and refilled with ice water, but sure enough… it goes to work with me daily and is sitting right there on my desk.
Remember to monitor your urine color throughout the day, especially in summer: it should be clear or just a little yellow, if it’s too dark or very yellow – you’re not taking in enough water. Go get a drink.

It’s been said that 30 lbs of excess adipose is just 2 weeks rations in a pinch…

My 5.11 TacLite Pro pants have a back pocket that will swallow that thermos and then some. Do you even operate, Farabro?

Hip flask, with the finest Scotch.
Opps, that is not Politically correct

    ¿Porque no los dos?

I am guessing diabetes won’t be fun when SHTF. The way things are going, insulin will be the new coin of the realm. At least in the beginning.

    1. avatar strych9 says:

That only really matters for Type 1 diabetics. Type 2’s usually use other meds because Type 2 diabetics make insulin but not enough of it.

Type 2’s can usually manage their issues with diet and exercise too.

Well that site is everyday carry, not pocket dump ,so,I’d say it doesn’t have to go in pockets .

I’m almost 59, did and hour on the treadmill and cross trainer today, plus some shoulder work and stretching . Granola and fruit for breakfast and a small bowl of venison chili for lunch , ok we are going out for a fish fry tonight …..

I Want to be around to protect my wife ,kids and grand kids .

If you don’t have your health you don’t have anything. Plus I’d hate to miss out on an alien invasion, WWIII/IV/V, Civil War 2.0 or any other good times ahead. Gotta live long enough to epicly milk the Social Security and reap the rewards of senior discounts. I want at least twenty years of free skiing.

  9. avatar strych9 says:

As someone who drinks about 6L of water a day I generally use a 1.5L Nalgene or a 2.2L jug. A thermos is for coffee, tea or soup.

Also, you’d be surprised how much weight you can lose just via proper hydration. A buddy of mine lost almost 25lbs just by upping his daily water intake to the point he wasn’t pissing yellow during the day anymore.

  10. avatar Specialist38 says:

I’m pretty sure the thermos is for cream of mushroom soup.

Water bottles (flasks?) usually have some do-dad on the top to clip it to something.

    At least mine do.

Pffft. My 5.11 TacLite Pro pants have a back pocket that will swallow that thermos and then some. Do you even operate, Farabro?
