You know those gravel-voiced action movie promos? Read this — from Franchi’s web page for its new Momentum bolt action rifle — with that voice. “In a crowded bolt-action market, no brand has built a rifle purely off ergonomics, fit and feel. Until now.” That’s the Italian rifle’s unique selling point: . . .

comfort. You can stop the voice thing now.

Franchi’s press release touts the $609 Momentum’s “revolutionary stock” that “combines raised curves and crisp checkering at strategic places along the rifle, delivering the most ergonomic feel and positive hold in the five most commonly used shooting positions.” We shall see. Meanwhile, checker it out . . .

ACCOKEEK, Md. –-(Ammoland.com)- Long known as a maker of instinctive and feature-rich shotguns, Franchi brings its rich heritage of Italian craftsmanship and innovation to the bolt-action rifle market with the introduction of Momentum.

Debuting in six of the most popular bolt-action calibers (.243 Win., 6.5 Creedmoor, .270 Win. .308 Win., .30-06 Springfield, .300 Win. Mag.), the rifle is available in three configurations. For hunters who utilize supressors, the Momentum is available with a threaded, free-floating barrel, both by itself and as part of a rifle/optics combo. The rifle is also available with an unthreaded barrel.

The most visually distinct feature of the Momentum rifle is its revolutionary stock. The stock combines raised curves and crisp checkering at strategic places along the rifle, delivering the most ergonomic feel and positive hold in the five most commonly used shooting positions. Sling-attachment points are recessed on the Momentum’s stock, eliminating the need for intrusive swivel studs. At the butt, the Franchi’s popular TSA recoil pad absorbs 50 percent of the rifle’s felt recoil with integrated contours to offer more comfortable benchrest shooting positions.

Momentum’s barrel is a cold-hammer-forged chrome-molybdenum with a matte finish and free floated for enhanced accuracy. The ends of the threaded-barrel configurations (5/8 x 24 thread) are protected by a knurled cover that is easy to remove when utilizing barrel accessories or supressors. The Momentum features a two-position safety, which allows the bolt to be operated when the rifle has been made safe and a crisp, single-stage trigger than can be adjusted from 2 to 4 pounds.

The rifle’s one-piece bolt is spiral fluted and features three locking lugs for solid lockup to deliver increased accuracy. The bolt has a short, 60-degree throw for faster cycling and is easy to disassemble when cleaning. Offering 4+1 capacity (3+1 for .300 Win. Mag.), the Momentum sports a hinged floorplate magazine.

In addition to stand-alone threaded and unthreaded rifle configurations, the new Franchi Momentum rifle is available as part of a rifle/optics combo that features a Burris Fullfield II 3-9×40 riflescope and includes a Burris two-piece scope base and Burris Zee Rings. The Momentum rifle accepts Model 700-style, two-piece bases.

“The most visually distinct feature of the Momentum rifle is its revolutionary stock.”
Looks at the photo and sees no distinguishing differences in stock design between this, the TC Dimension, the Winchester 70, the Remington 700 ADL, the Ruger 77 or any other bolt action rifle made in the past century.
      What am I missing here?

What are you missing? ACTUALLY HOLDING ONE!!!

      2. avatar John in AK says:

Obviously, unlike those OTHER guns, THIS one’s stock is ribbed and textured for extra pleasure for both of you!
There is also a prelubricated model.

    Very NICE!

I’d, speaking just for myself, also like to have seen accuracy, reliability and safety in there somewhere.

Cool a bolt that machines it’s own chamber
