“A Tennessee man who was stopped for urinating near the White House on Sunday was arrested after authorities said they found at least nine firearms, including assault-style weapons, in the trunk of his car, according to a D.C. police report.” Hey, it was the Washington Post and they described the rifle as “assault-style” rather than a machine gun. You have to take your little victories where you can find them, no?

So what tipped the Secret Service off that something might be amiss?

Police said the incident occurred about 7:15 a.m. at 17th St. and Pennsylvania Ave. NW, near the Renwick Gallery, on the west side of the White House. The police report said a uniformed Secret Service officer stopped a man he saw urinating.

There’s probably no end of NFL players who’d line up to pee on the White House these days, but that doesn’t mean it’s legal. Timothy Joseph Bates had a Fraternal Order of Police insignia on his license plate, if that means anything. However . . .

When approached, Bates told the officer that he “came to the White House in order to speak with Adm. Mike Rogers and Gen. Jim Mattis for advice on missing paychecks and how to get the dog chip out of my head,” the police report said.

When asked, Bates gave them to go-ahead to search his car.

Items seized include a Glock handgun, a Rossi .357, a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson, a Bushmaster M4 assault-style weapon, a Tec-9 with a silencer, an XD-S .45-caliber handgun, a Norinco AK-47, numerous rounds of ammunition, a folding knife, a blackjack and brass knuckles, the police report said.

As you’re probably aware, our nation’s capitol takes a dim view of civilian ownership of firearms even in the bast cases. And given Bates’s state of mind, this probably wasn’t one of those best cases. He was taken to a local hospital and has since been booked on a variety of weapons charges.

35 Responses to Man Found With Nine Guns Near White House Said He Has “Dog Chip” in His Head

  1. “A Tennessee man who was stopped for urinating near the White House”

The only Tennessee jagoffs who are allowed to piss on the White House play for the Titans.

  2. Sigh…………. seriously? If ever the term “Gun Nut” fit, it might be this guy. Do not pass go, Do not Collect $200.

  3. Well what are they waiting for, scan him and get the ID so we can find out who he belongs to. Also, I’m thinking those aren’t supposed to implanted it peoples head. Someones in deep trouble!

    • My guess is it was more of a barrel shroud or a fake can for looks or to add length to make it a 16″ carbine instead of a pistol. It just says Tec-9 it doesn’t specify pistol. I’m not sure if the semi auto variant was made in a carbine version or not.

  4. I’ll bet a crisp 5 dollar bill that the ‘Tec-9 with a silencer’ is actually a bog standard Tec-9 with it’s oh so scary barrel shroud.

    • No one has to demonstrate a need to look through your things when you tell them that they can look through your things.

      • My guess would be that his entire behavior warranted a very close look. When you tell an officer near the White House you have a dog chip in your head, you’re going to get some extra attention. That is their job, that’s what they do.
If you consent to a search, they need nothing else.

  5. I’m most interested in the story behind the Norinco. The rest are cheap junk any random nutcase could get, but with the import ban Norinco AKs command a lot of money. My money is on the ATF

    • MAK90 or Mac90 and NHM90/91 aren’t that expensive or that rare. The others especially the Polytech Legends can fetch nutty high numbers. I don’t even follow their prices any longer. I still have a 56s-1 and a NHM90 I converted a decade ago. I used Original Chicom furniture, US flashhider, US Trigger group and US magazine. I also have a US furniture set if I don’t want to use US mags. Remember 922r compliance. I pretty sure you need 6 US parts. A mag counts as three parts.

The NHM’s always have a straight cut rear on the receiver. Some Macs have a slant cut making it hard to find a butt stock. NHMs sometimes even have a threaded barrel under the welded thread protector. So it’s easy to convert a NHM to a pre-ban configuration minus the bayonet lug. Remember to use US parts for 922r compliance if you do the conversion.

    • The 80’s and 90’s called they both want their outdated views back.

To make such a statement means you never owned or know anything about AK’s to make such an ignorant statement.

Even if you are talking about Norinco’s other products which all work by the way compared to a lot of domestic crap being peddled by the likes of Remington, SIG, and others, they aren’t that cheap either or easy to find.

Norinco SKS’s are easily going for $400+ these days. Even their shotguns aren’t cheap. The only “cheap” Norinco product I can think of are their 9mm. Tokarev pistols since full-size, single stack guns in that caliber aren’t terribly popular but they at least work.

  6. If that isn’t poetic justice! An ex cop off his rocker and his meds, goes to DC armed to the teeth and gets derailed for pissing in public.

  7. A man pees outside, claims to have a dog chip in his head & then asks to speak with Mad Dog Mattis. Perhaps on some level, it makes sense.

  8. Does anyone want to bet against his being “medically” retired was in fact for psychological reasons? Having filled out more than just a few 4473 forms, I recall there being a disqualifier concerning involuntary commitment to a mental health facility. I wonder how many of those firearms he purchased from an FFL dealer and lied on the 4473?
