“Guns have no place in our neighborhoods, on our streets, and it is time that at both the local and the national level that there be comprehensive gun reform and that our elected members of Congress do what must be done in order to rid our communities of weapons of mass destruction, which have created a public health hazard.”- Adrian Mapp, a Clinton delegate from New Jersey, quoted in Guns Are ‘The Ultimate Public Health Crisis,’ Howard Dean Tells Democratic Convention [via huffingtonpost.com]

  1. Well the only people allowed to carry guns in his neighborhoods and on his streets are cops and other agents of the state, so he must be demanding that the cops be dissarmed.

    • To be fair, he never indicated that cops and other state or federal agents should be exempt from his preferred gun ban. Given that he likely views most police as racist, maybe he means the cops too.

But we know better in particular when it would come to federal and certain state bureaucracies, they would almost have 007 license to kill, depending on your level of resistance to the government masters.

Don’t believe me? Try getting a conservative 501c3 approved by the IRS. Or make a sizable donation to a conservative PAC or candidate and watch how soon you’re contacted by the IRA, OSHA, or another of the alphabet soup of agencies for a “random” audit.

      • “Don’t believe me? Try getting a conservative 501c3 approved by the IRS.”

        Oh, it can be done.

But you better make sure that words like ‘freedom’ or ‘2A’ or terms like ‘Tea Party’ don’t appear in the name of it…

      • Cops? The only people who carry guns in New Jersey along with the cops are the black criminals, who do so illegally. So this guy is just making sure all his welfare family fatherless babies who grow up to be gangstas will be able to continue to vote for him rather than being shot by someone legally defending themselves.

    • But if no civilians could have guns, why would police need guns? Heck why would we need police?

Oh wait, because his world is full of unicorns and Care bears, and could never exist, because…criminals will always exist, and would likely still have guns.

How the F did people like this ever make it out of the caveman era? How is it that the disarmament trait made it this far through evolution?

      • Please don’t insult the caveman. The caveman like most primitive people and animals were probably very much aware of threats in their environment. This is just the sad state of a dysfunctional ideology.

      • So simple, a caveman could do it…

        Lol

Like break down an AR or AK to clean it.
Break down a Ruger MK I, II, or III… Not so much.

    • I recommend that the disarmament start with Clinton’s Secret Service detail. Wiffle bats… and “love” should be enough for them.

    • No, there are others in his neighborhood with guns: the criminals.
So what he’s asking for is a law to ban the possession of guns…by people who are banned from possessing guns.

Or maybe, since he’s referring to Congress, he means a national law to give everybody NJ’s gun ban and ridiculously high crime rate.

    • Well said. If Mapp and his ilk get their way, there will be no way for average citizens to defend themselves and their loved ones against the barbarians Mapp represents.

    • Arkansas Kurt,

Actually, the “public health crisis” has three main root causes:
      (1) Destruction of the family
      (2) Destruction of timeless, objective values
      (3) Elevation of feelings above all

I suppose you could argue that (2) and (3) are different ways of saying the same thing.

      • Well, I guess I have to finally admit that I was wrong about the Iraq war. Sure, it was a disaster, but I guess we weren’t misled. Saddam definitely had a shitload of WMDs. There were even pictures of him with a gold plated WMD in public. How were we so blind? Gag me with a cleaning rod.

      • I agree, this man and his ilk represent all three of your points.
        (1) Destruction of the family
        (2) Destruction of timeless, objective values
        (3) Elevation of feelings above all

He is a democrat. So he supports the welfare state. The welfare state actively supports unwed mothers and dead beat dads. The welfare state actively supports entitlement. And the the welfare state accomplishes this by preying on people’s feelings.

      • @uncommon sense Exactly! But bringing back those three principles on a large scale is detrimental to the new Democratic Party’s agenda. There’s not D.C. job security in it.

      • I’d say they’re all derivative of #1. Friedrich Hayek wrote back in 1960 that families are the primary transmitters of human capital: habits, mores, and education. Much more than other social institutions, families are determinative of academic and career success.

Government wants people dependent upon government, so that the people don’t question, challenge, or change government, or even have the wherewithal to attempt it.

That’s the motivation behind gay marriage, radical feminism, welfare programs, no-fault divorce, the assault on religion, and the devaluation of life through abortion.

It isn’t about rights or freedoms. There’s enough of that in there to give them credence, but that’s not what it’s really about. It’s about destroying families outright, or at least their effectiveness, and replacing them with government as the vehicle for preparing the next generation to assume responsibility for the future.

  2. “Weapons of mass destruction”… I don’t think that means what you think it means. Then again he is probably thinking like a demoncrat and only considering hundreds of gang members a mass amount of destruction. Oh wait that is normal in highly progressive(democrat controlled) areas. Please do go on about how guns are the problem, because its actually making more people wake up to the inherent corruption from the prog leaders.

  3. Guns already have an established place in New Jersey, especially in liberal paradises like Camden and Newark. What apparently has no place in New Jersey is the U.S. Constitution.

  4. Jeesh! A Black man advocating Jim Crow Laws for all! Equal tyranny under the law? Is that it, Mr. Mapp?

  5. Man, I should become a Democrat, so I can say important-sounding sound-bytes that make it seem like I care, but offer little value or substance.

    • Speaking of, I’m hearing “gun reform” more and more. That seems to be the next on the list of focus-group tested terms. So is “gun safety” to go in the euphemism graveyard?

      • If a gun can be declared as “reformed” does that mean it will no longer engage in “violence”?

  6. He’s comfortable with a certain amount of violence that gives his pithy comments some street cred with his constituents. The problem is broken families, starting with the absent father’s.

  7. From the article. Follow the money. Democrats happy when they get other people’s money to infringe on your rights.

“Democrats — buoyed by interest and big spending from anti-gun billionaires such as Michael Bloomberg — have found their voice on gun control again”

The only gun reform Democrats want is your gun.

  8. Wasn’t he one of the bad guys in Django Unchained? It looks and sounds like Jamie Foxx needs to work on him some more.

  9. So the Democrats are running on revoking the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th Amendments this year?

I want to be a Democrat. An honest Democrat. I’ll talk about how poor people and minorities can’t be trusted with rights. I’ll talk about how special I am and how I deserve to be protected. I’ll talk from my private jet and gated Florida mansion about how you peons shouldn’t be using A/C in the summer or fuel in the winter. I’ll remind you all that my disdain and bigotry for the lower classes is what will make you all equal and safe at least among each other because Lord knows I won’t let your ignorance and filth get anywhere near me. I’ll be sure to prevent anyone who isn’t a personal friend or large campaign donor from building a successful business and I’ll work to implement legislation that will double your current living and medical expenses then threaten to lock you up if you don’t pay in.

And you’ll love me because of that (D). Oh, how you’ll love me. Your women will slobber my jock and your men will wipe my ass.

  10. New Jersey is another blue state with highly restrictive gum laws and horrible crime, and he wants to force that horror show on the rest of the country. I know, it has nothing to do with reducing guns in the hands in criminals, that this is all about conquering a free people. It just helps to restate the obvious.

  11. And who is going to rid your communities of firearms Mr. Mapp? Are you advocating police going door-to-door in your community to confiscate these firearms? If history is an indicator, you and your ilk would then be crying about racist cops and police brutality.

  12. I believe he was trying to win the Democrat Bingo Game. How many political buzzwords can he fit into a statement regardless if they make sense together and bonus score for words the elicit emotions although have no context with the other words in the statement. “Mass Destruction” my a–

How about fix those broken families and lock up the drug dealers versus using catch and release policies.

$100mm from Facebook founder to your Camden schools all pissed away. One of the highest per capita spending on students and almost dead last in results.

There are sure are a hell of a lot of things that can be fix before you even talk about guns and fixing those things will most likely remove the gun violence more effectively than another stupid law.

Guns and Gun control have and will always be an argument to distract from the real issues so that those in p0wer do not actually have to do anything to fix the other issues.

  13. Around 9,000 people a year due from gunfire. Heart disease kills more than 600,000. So tell me again how guns are the “ultimate” public health crisis.

  14. Molon Labe seems to be the most appropriate response. However the dems and progressives are too smart and too chickensh*t to do that. They would do absolutely nothing to confiscate guns from the individuals that are actually preying on their own communities and innocent people. That would involve guts. Instead they want to incrementally pass laws that infringe on the rights of the law abiding, making it too dangerous to take their “weapons of mass destruction” outside the home. Since actual citizens follow the law, and criminals don’t, they’ll be able to “ban” guns without actually having to muster up the courage to physically do so.

  15. Weapons of mass destruction? Well, now…isn’t that just a big old crock of hyperbolistic horsesh!t.

  16. These are the kind of people you want recalled from public office. And restricted from further political office.

  17. A pistol…. a weapon of mass destruction? These people are crazy.

Guns have no place in our neighborhoods, on our streets, and it is time that at both the local and the national level that there be comprehensive gun reform and that our elected members of Congress do what must be done in order to rid our communities of weapons of mass destruction, which have created a public health hazard

Well… just let those people in Camden know. I’m sure they will do what is asked of them and follow the law right? They of course wouldn’t illegally acquire a firearm, illegally possess a firearm, or illegally use a firearm – Right?

  18. Well, I guess I have to finally admit that I was wrong about the Iraq war. Sure, it was a disaster, but I guess we weren’t misled. Saddam definitely had a shitload of WMDs. There were even pictures of him with a gold plated WMD in public. How were we so blind? Gag me with a cleaning rod.

  19. Last time I checked, only Law Enforcement and Criminals can carry guns on the street.
FYI, guns are not “weapons of mass destruction”.
Poison gas, HellFire Missiles, Nuclear Bombs, those are WMDs.

  20. much like when W was in office, I am left to conclude that when anyone talks about WMD’s, they:
    a) don’t know what they’re talking about;
    and
    b) are lying regarding their existence.

  21. Demoncrats are following the rules of Adolph and Vladimir. Hitler took all the guns before taking power, Lenin took all the guns after taking power. Millions of men, women and children were slaughtered. Demoncrats cannot be bothered to take a history class or maybe they did.

  22. Sir, it’s actually your poor urban communities in NJ that are creating the public health hazard you erroneously attribute to guns. Gun violence in these communities is really just an unfortunate symptom of the much more serious and real problem of cultural immaturity/irresponsibilty/failure that’s clearly prevalent. Address the culture problem, and you’ll help a host of other issues, including gun violence.

But, I’m just preaching to the choir here. From my experience, the vast majority of the people who should be listening and taking action don’t want to hear hard truths and prefer to look for an easy “solution” and a way to shirk responsibility rather than look in a mirror.

  23. Of course he’s against guns, he was the mayor of f’n Plainfield!

Not as bad as Camden and Newark but one of the worst of the worst in NJ.

Home of the ’67 race riots which were never recovered from- and the first place rioters went was to PMT for M1 carbines.

They haven’t been able to do shit with that area so politicians will blame anything.

  24. ” do what must be done in order to rid our communities of weapons of mass destruction, which have created a public health hazard.”

It’s become obvious that Democrats (and Republicans, for that matter) are more of a public health hazard than guns.

  25. (D) is the ultimate health crisis lib_prog_comm (D). Followed by UN Military Forces, followed by the Globalist POS of the world.

  26. Looks like New Jersey has no place in New America. I’m all for the peaceful, mutual, constitutional dissolution of America. This country has become far too large and diverse, to the point of being ungovernable, for one-size-fits-all approaches to just about anything. We have irreconcilable differences and we need to negotiate a parting of ways.

  27. Data repeatedly shows that it’s not guns that are the problem, it’s black criminals with guns that are the problem. Get active in your own black community and encourage them to stop glorifying criminals!

But we know that won’t happen, so there’s no place for New Jersey in the US. Can we please give it back to the UK?

    • We should not give anything to the UK or the EU. We must reclaim our territory in the name of freedom, and that eventually will include the British Isles and mainland Europe.

  28. “G’wan back the way you came; we don’ want’cher kind ’round here”

New Jersery is such a ignorant, bigoted backwater anymore. What civilized person would venture there? They’ll be making outsiders they catch squeal like piggies before too long (even outside the prisons)

  29. BINGO!

    I got a buzzword Bingo!

Diagonal from top left with “comprehensive gun reform”, “weapons of mass destruction”, The free space in the middle, “public health hazard”, and bottom corner for “elected members of Congress do what must be done.”

This was more fun than I thought it was going to be.

  30. Spending any of my money has no place in Joisey. Glad the trumpster didn’t choose Chris Crisspycreme as his mate…
