Announcing TTAG’s Spring Content Contest

DSC04074

Yes, it’s that time of year again. Buds are blooming, grass is growing and guns are being given away. Well, one gun, anyway. RF just made it back from the NSSF Shooting Sports Fantasy Camp with a REX zero 1 pistol in tow, along with a range bag stuffed with swag. If you’d like to win either the pistol or the swag, all you have to do is roll up your sleeves, put fingers to keyboard and generate a little content. What kind of content? . . .

That’s up to you. You can write anything from a gun review to reminiscences of dear old dad taking you on your first hunt. All that matters is that it’s gun related, beautifully written, insanely entertaining and includes at least one photo.

When you’re finished, pop the text and jpeg into an email and send your magnum opus to us at thetruthaboutguns@gmail.com with CONTENT CONTEST in the subject field. We’ll post some of the best entries here and pick two winners.

The grand prize will be the aforementioned REXzero 1. The runner up will receive a BLACKHAWK! Sportster range bag stuffed to the gills with more shooting related stuff than you can shake a tactical walking stick at (see above). So get those finger limbered up and keep those emails coming. Because there’s nothing better than free guns and gear. Unless it’s reading TTAG. Well, in theory.

Rewritting and submiting this week, another pistol in the safe would be nice, but a new range bag wouldn’t be too bad either.

  2. avatar FormerWaterWalker says:

Hmmm…mighty tempting. I may have to get the old brain percolating(remember percolated coffee?)

    1. avatar Curtis in IL says:

The phrase “Wake up and smell the coffee” comes from those percolators that boiled the coffee, filling the house with that wonderful morning aroma. They also made coffee that was generally bitter and flavorless. Gotta wonder why they were popular for so long?

      1. avatar FormerWaterWalker says:

My parents had an insurance agency and I think my mother drank 10 or 20 cups of perked coffee/day. 6 days a/week. It’s no wonder she got cancer. I sure remember the sound of the coffee on the stove.

        1. avatar -Peter says:

          Wait, coffee gives you cancer?

*spits just-sipped coffee all over laptop*

        2. avatar Geoff PR says:

          “Wait, coffee gives you cancer?”

All the more reason to replace that coffee with something at 80-proof or so.

Wait… What? Alcohol causes cancer too?

          *sobbing uncontrollably*

        3. avatar tsbhoA.P.jr says:

got some better at gun truth statin’,
          since i started percolatin’.

i run one every weekend morning. mom knew right where it was.

        4. avatar CarlosT says:

The current research connects high coffee consumption to reduced cancer risk. So six cups a day is not a bad thing. High carbohydrates is bad, so if those cups are drowning in sugar, that’s probably not going to help.

        5. avatar FormerWaterWalker says:

Hmmm…My mom drank 10-20 cups of nasty perked coffee/day. I think it was usually black too. Also had an awful diet and was overweight. This ain’t the drip stuff I drink 2-3 cups/day. Antioxidants in that. Moderation children…

  3. avatar ActionPhysicalMan says:

Something like “I go to a small mid-western liberal arts college, and though an avid reader of this column, I never thought I’d something like this happen to me. There is this incredibly hot girl in……..”?

    1. avatar peirsonb says:

Hey, that’s the sex ed book my parents gave me.

      1. avatar Geoff PR says:

Your parents gave you ‘Penthouse Forum’ for sex ed?

Why, back in my day you had to find your own smut all by yourself!

Uphill! Both ways! In the driving. freezing rain!

        And we LIKED it!

        1. avatar Tom in Oregon says:

And if it was icy, we wrapped our bare feet in barbed wire for traction since we couldn’t afford shoes!

  4. avatar Minime says:

Query: whatever happened to the survey results from February? Been ubber curious to see the results.

Not that I’m complaining about the free stuff. 😉

  5. avatar Lostlamb says:

What if I live in CA?? What do I win if I win this?

Please don’t give us CA folks just the bag w/ a photocopy of a REX pistol.

    1. avatar ActionPhysicalMan says:

They could permanently disable it for you. That way you could still have it;-) I feel your pain though. I lived in CA once too.

      1. avatar Nick says:

In Cali we get a gun bag filled with letters to our congress people, and ink by the barrel full to get back the right to own this cool gun. Don’t special case us TTAG, we’ll get our house in order first 😉 Also, the bag is pretty cool and worth a haiku:

        Not the problem, see
        Mentally unstable, thee
        Give up basic rights.

  6. avatar Jimmyjames says:

Too much work. I think I will go take a nap instead.

  7. avatar Joshua says:

    Is there a deadline?

  8. avatar Adub says:

How come there isn’t a review of this gun yet???

I debate buying one but that MSRP isn’t cheap. And I haven’t seen any on the shelves anywhere.

  9. avatar Mikial says:

    Thanks and will do.

  10. avatar Hoplopfheil says:

    On it.

    Email incoming.

  11. avatar Gamal Gonzalez says:

How can we keep ourselves updated on this contest? Do we just revisit the blog?

  12. avatar Gamal Gonzalez says:

This comment is to check on followups

  13. avatar Wood says:

That looks an awful lot like someone licensed or ripped off a Sig P220.
