Gun Hero of the Day: Mississippi Gun Store Owner Tim Wolverton

Gun rights advocates shouldn’t burn bridges with firearms fence straddlers and less-than-die-hard (with a vengeance) antis. Groups that may even include — gulp! — Democrats. That said, as a truth-telling gun blogger, good for you Mr. Wolverton! That’s the Mississippi gun store owner who put up a sign at the Jackson gun show proclaiming: “If you support Kenneth Stokes or the president, you’re too stupid to own a gun.” Stokes is the city councilman who said people should throw rocks at police who chase suspects into Jackson. Wolverton took a swipe at the president and Democrats because “they are obviously anti-guns.” Copy that! Only we can’t copy Mr. Wolverton’s non-PC style. So . . . GHOTD for doing what we can’t.

The 30 seconds that Stokes was on the air did more damage to his reputation than any sign could ever do on its own. How in the blue hell did a man who talks, sounds, and acts like he dropped out of 6th grade get elected to anything higher than assistant janitor?

    1. avatar John L. says:

Says something about the electorate – or at least the part that bothers to vote – doesn’t it?

Because his voters dropped out of 5th grade, thus he’s actually highly educated.

      You’re just a “terri-ist” and a “who’d-lum.”

Damn, son, that’s one country a$$ dude.

      1. avatar Vhyrus says:

He actually said terriers, which would have made me laugh hysterically had my jaw not already hit the floor from realizing this man won an election in America in the 21st century.

    4. avatar GSD says:

Here was the Democrats candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture – not a joke, this was their candidate. Actually received 36% of the vote. I’m pretty sure the voters misunderstood her request for a ‘ho in every home.

    5. avatar foodog says:

Stokes on gun store owners – “de are thugz, de are terrorists, de are stoopid bastids like the sheriff” .

      Stoopid is as stoopid does.

  2. It’s not flaming if it’s true. Why can’t TTAG say it? Condoning it is the same thing.

  3. avatar dph says:

Don’t talk bad about the POS, I’m sorry I meant the POTUS, that’s contempt of court and you should spend time in a Federal penitentiary. Hahaha.

    1. avatar ready,fire,aim says:

evidently he does not know his amendments…1st

  4. avatar Former Water Walker says:

Screw PC RF-I’ve had way more than my share of “conversations” with dumbocrats, the wishy-washy and fence straddlers. Especially as an OFWG married to a stunning black woman(with 2 brown sons). People ASSume all kinds of evil-I’m too freakin’ old and PO’ed to entertain fools…good on this gunshop owner! I see this stated all over the place too.

  5. avatar Ralph says:

There should be a new question 11.j. on the 4473:

Are you stupid? (Check Yes or No). Warning: if you habitually vote Democrat, you are stupid.

    1. avatar Jonathan - Houston says:

Never mind the terrorist watch list. I want to funnel the Democrat voter registration rolls into the NICS database

  6. avatar Anonymous says:

“Are you going to take down the sign?”

    Uh… I don’t think so.

Hilarious. Stokes statement to the reporter was absolutely ridiculous by the way.

Jokes aside, I probably would have worded the sign a bit differently avoiding words like “stupid.” Also, there was no real advantage of putting Obama in there. He is on his way out and we are almost rid of him. If the tyrant council member, who wants to imprison people who don’t like him, is the target – he should be focused upon. In fact – i’d replace the sign in the door with what the council member said to the reporter.

    1. avatar CTstooge says:

Obama may be on the way out, but he’s not done on guns. He’s making his puppets (like CT’s Malloy and Murphy) do his anti-gun work at the state level.

So yeah, he belongs on the sign.

“Jokes aside, I probably would have worded the sign a bit differently avoiding words like “stupid.” ”

Maybe “ignorant” instead of “stupid” ? Nah. Stupid AND ignorant fits better.

  7. avatar RockOnHellChild says:

    Turnabout is fair play.

Also, I don’t think there are really many “fence sitters”, anymore. Pre-2012, sure. But now, not so much.

  8. avatar Bulldozer says:

Anyone else notice that the number posted at the end of the clip was for “anti gun comments”?

  9. avatar Chris T from KY says:

This is why we have the 1st amendment. It was not written for homosexual erotica displays. But they do benefit from it.

California gun owners you need to get busy. Where are your signs about your elected officials?

  10. avatar Taylor TX says:

Ya know, I might have been thinking “Hey maybe this Stokes guy isnt that bad” and then he opened his mouth.

  11. avatar JW says:

    The truely sad thing is

His wife is an Elected Judge (with no legal background) in civil court in Hinds county – and Kenny is the bright one in the family.

  12. avatar Shwiggie says:

It’s ironically funny that his default diss remains “mo-ron” and “dumb bastud”. But, hey, it’s Jackson. It’s like all the stupid in our state is coalesced there and apparently given form. Lo and behold, that form is old Councilman Asshat, there.
