Chicago Cop Jason Van Dyke Makes Bail on Murder Charge [VIDEO]

“A Chicago police officer facing first-degree murder for fatally shooting a teen 16 times was released from county jail Monday evening, hours after a judge set bond at $1.5 million,” usatoday.com reporters. “Officer Jason Van Dyke had been in jail since Tuesday after prosecutors charged him with the Oct. 20, 2014, shooting of Laquan McDonald. Also on Tuesday, the city released dashcam video that shows the teen, who is black, being shot by Van Dyke, who is white.” Wait. Who said anything about the crime being racially motivated – other than USA Today? Does that mean . . .

I’m sure there’s a situation where off-body carry is safer than on-body carry. I can’t think of one, given that carrying your gun in a bag/case/backpack opens the possibility that you’ll leave your firearm somewhere you shouldn’t, someone will gain access to your firearm who shouldn’t, or someone will steal your gun-schlepping bag/case/backpack (who shouldn’t). Gun guru Kevin Michalowski understands the dangers, but reckons carrying a concealed carry bag with the strap over your shoulder makes it OK. Ish. In fact . . .

Anti-gun rights campaigners dismiss the notion of armed self-defense during a terrorist attack. They claim an “untrained” armed civilian will shoot the wrong person (by accident). Puh-lease. Anyone with half a brain knows it’s better to shoot at someone killing people en masse than not, even if you kill some innocents in the process. That said, this gun blogger can’t recall ANY examples of an armed civilian killing a bystander whilst trying to shoot a bad guy.
