There’s epic. And then there’s epic. The NRA just released an ad (part of a new campaign) featuring our good friend Dana Loesch, and it’s as epic as epic gets. Check out the video above . . .

“I’m a mom. And just like millions of other women, that’s why we own guns. We’re responsible. We’re law abiding. We’re everything that makes America strong.”

“If a mom puts a gun to the face of a home invading thug and makes him run for his life, the story gets buried. But if she’s unarmed and murdered, the cameras will be at the scene before the police.”

“We are the majority. We demand the freedom to defend our families.”

“I’m the National Rifle Association of America, and I’m freedom’s safest place.”

The messaging in this video is spot on, and exactly what more Americans should be talking about. Firearms help the most helpless among us. The moms, the single women, the less-mobile, anyone that criminals might consider an easy target.

The only thing that can make a woman as “strong as a man” is a gun. Not a rape whistle, not 911, not urinating herself, a gun. It’s called the great equalizer for a reason.

Sure, you can always make more gun rules. But you still come up with the same problem … gun rules do not miraculously turn bad men into good men who will follow them.

By the way, did we mention that the cities with the strictest gun laws also have the highest rate of gun crimes? I’m pretty sure we did, but it seems like a good time to highlight it again. You’re welcome.

Of course, before you could say “delusional old wench,” leftists took to Twitter to angrily type their angry outrage on angry Twitter.

Couple of things here.

1) I think that this “tolerant” leftist Shannon Watts (whose previous work includes a stint at Monsanto), is implying that Dana is not a real woman…or something. See, because the left only wants to empower women, so long as they get to define them. A strong, attractive, gun-owning mom like Dana doesn’t fit the bill. Perhaps if she had hair pits and displayed her boobs in Bryant Park?

2.) They quote putting a “gun to the face of the thug” like it’s offensive. Again, I’m very confused. Are we supposed to be offended by the word “thug” when referring to a home invader?  Oh, we are. Okay then, carry on.

It’s really pretty simple. The numbers continue to bear it out. The constitution literally spells it out. Dana Loesch’s right. The NRA’s right. But most importantly, she looks damn good in a leather jacket.

84 Responses to NRA’s New Ad Campaign Hits Hard, Sparks Gun Grabber Protests [VIDEO]

    • I have one too. And it’s a hell of a comfort knowing she’s watching the ranch when I’m not there. But Dana is a cutie too.

  1. I’ve never met a woman who would defend her family. Not her own children. Not her husband. Not her parents. Never, not even once.

I’m also single. Because I won’t tolerate weak, stupid, and cowardly.

    • Come visit Wyoming, Dustin. There are many such women here. You’ll have to get your own ducks in a row, of course… somehow, there’s a lot of competition for good women out here in the west.

    • I’ve known a couple. Keep looking, Dustin, because while few and far between, they are out there and they are worth looking for.

And I’ve also known a few men who would tell the neighborhood rapist, “I don’t care what you do with my wife, just don’t hurt me.” Those so-called men are usually the kind of pencil-necked nancy-boy big city Democrats who think that their high-estrogen passiveness makes them better than us.

    • Most moms I know would defend their kids to the death. Unfortunately, most have little to no training, and so it would be a rather pointless death.

The protective instinct it there – it’s up to us to convince them to get the training and the tools (including guns) before it’s too late.

My wife tolerates my gun hobby/addiction. She’s not really into guns or shooting but she still comes to the range occasionally to practice with “her” gun, not for fun but because she agrees that it’s important for her to be able to help defend our family.

    • I’m guessing you haven’t met many moms, then. Every woman I’ve ever known who had kids put them wayyyyy above her own life and woe to him who screws with her kids.

      Regards,

      Steve

    • If I were to ask my wife if she would defend herself with a gun – she would say no.

If I were to ask her if she would defend our children with a gun – she would say “I hope I wouldn’t need to” – but if push came to shove she wouldn’t hesitate.

I also have 2 daughters in their twenties. College, PAC12 athletes, close to 6’0 tall and tough as nails. Nobody messes with them. They are as mentally and physically tough as anyone I’ve ever met. They both know how to shoot. They would be the wrong person for a ‘thug’ to mess with.

    • I’ve never met a woman who would defend her family. Not her own children. Not her husband. Not her parents. Never, not even once.
In spite of Shannon Watts over in the Indy suburbs, we have more than a few who would defend themselves and family.

      • I’m not sure Dustin meant it the way it sounded , then again , maybe he did . He could live in NYC or San Fran or Seattle or Australia for that matter or maybe he’s trying to get a date . He obviously hasn’t been to Texas or West Virginia or Montana if he was serious . Confusing comment .

    • My wife has a Taser C2 and access to my Sig 226 Tac Ops in a high quality speed safe on my nightstand. She’s ready to use both. We also have an ADT alarm and a couple of substantial dogs.

My older sister Kara has access to my brother in law’s 12 gauge shotgun loaded with buckshot. She’s refreshingly right wing. She’s grooming a black lab to be the family companion and protector. Her previous lab wouldn’t let my mother in their house uninvited.

My other sister lives in Madison, WI and has been seduced by the dark side of the political left, and is completely incapable of defending her family or husband with a firearm. She believes that she can muster all 120 pounds of her slim build to become an instant warrior, despite having absolutely no training in self defense or martial arts. None. Sad. Of course I still love her and will do whatever I can for her.

      • Try to get her and her family out of that town. That place has the most poisonous atmosphere of any place I have ever visited. Once they have escaped that place they are likely to recover. I don’t know how anyone in that town gets anywhere since they will never make a right turn, just on general principles.

        • Madison’s not that bad. There are still lots of gun nuts here, it’s far from a lost cause. Most of the lefty agenda is fueled by the University, who’s mission seems to be to turn tax dollars in leftist ideology and empower suburban brats to wipe their asses with our town for four years.

      • Madison is the Berkeley of the Midwest. It’s beautiful but filled with toxic viewpoints and the least tolerant people you’ll ever meet.

        • That’s an accurate description. I love the museums and the theater, but Madison is like Boulder – very tolerant of everything and everyone, as long as they march in lockstep with their leftist ideology.

      • Not everyone in Madison is that stupidly anti-gun, (I’m not, and even my left-wing girlfriend is refreshingly pro-gun) but I’ve yet to meet a native Madison resident who hasn’t drunk the anti-gun Flavor-Aid. “No Guns” signs are an awfully common sign in town, which is incredibly irritating in a state where they hold the force of law.

        • Whoa, wait a minute. In Wisconsin, the “No Guns” sign on a business just means that if they discover that you are carrying, they can ask you to leave. If you do not leave after being asked to do so, then you can be cited for trespassing. It is not the same “force of law” by which you could be arrested for carrying and potentially lose your gun rights.

Concealed means concealed, and for those businesses with those signs, I will avoid then if I can (I won’t even order delivery pizza from them), or I will just be sure I am properly concealing.

    • If you’ve “never” met one, then that’s on you, because such women are not that rare. Sadly, they’re not as abundant as some here would have you believe, either. Plenty of women out there sit idly by while monsters in their own homes, never mind those roaming the streets, abuse their own children in the most horrific ways.

“….But I *love* him…..” you’ll hear these pathetic wastes will whimper. So such people are out there.

There are also plenty of good women who will stand by your side and defend themselves and their family to the death. Plenty of them. Such a woman is a whole lot of woman, though, and it takes a whole lot of man to seek such a woman, let alone attract one. And, no, I’m not referring to anything sexual or really even anything physical here. It’s about character, commitment, and core principles.

It’s a wide world out there, my friend. If you have what it takes, you can find what you seek. It’s actually somewhat easier, too, because such women are very actively seeking such a compatible man, and you’re bound to find each other.

    • There’s a reason “mama bear” has meaning. Woe to anyone who gets between my wife (and her Glock) and our kids.

But I would love her all the same if she were weak. Your “no tolerance” comment is the antithesis of manly sacrifice.

    • Many women do fall into that category, but if you haven’t found any that don’t, you just aren’t looking hard enough. My sister doesn’t have any kids but God help you if you fuck with one of her puppies. I have no doubt in my mind that she would kill someone who is hurting her dogs. My other sister, not to much. I can’t fault her though, right before she got married, she bought her fiance a Sig 226, and she made it explicitly clear what his responsibilities were.

    • MGTOW!

I don’t want to put words in Dustin’s mouth, but there is a growing movement of men (lot of them have been married, divorced, and experienced the gynocentric society take away their savings, their house, their kids, and has to pay alimony to a wife living in his old house while she chases the bad boy).

Men Going Their Own Way – MGTOW

For an intro, check out Sandman’s videos on YouTube, for more advanced and deep thoughts see Turd Flinging Monkey, StarDusk, and Barbarossa.

    • I teach rifle marksmanship. I can teach you to hit a man sized target at 500 yards using any rifle. The majority of ladies that I teach can shoot better than most men. I also know that if you mess with their children you are dead meat.

And I can understand why you are single!

  2. I listen to Dana every day on the radio…..She is from St. Louis and can speak her mind very well.

This add is as good as it gets!

    BRAVO!

    EPIC for sure!

  3. I am sure Chris will agree, Dana is like I a fine wine and is aging quite well!
She did great. Twitter was abuzz and she was trending in the #2 slot.
She hit a cord with a lot of folks, both men and women. It isn’t hard to understand. Well maybe for the likes of Shannon and her ilk it is, but the NRA is on the right track with this.

  4. “No real woman would ever…”

A perfect example of the No True Scotsman fallacy; an appeal to purity used to dismiss someone else’s relevant criticism and deflect attention from the flaws in your own argument.

If not for fallacies, the anti-gun crowd would have nothing.

  5. After 15 years my wife is finally coming around and learning to shoot. I never tried to convince her to do so directly. I did turn her on to Reason.com though.

  6. Best thing we thoughtful readers can do is copy the address bar link to this TTAG post and drop it into comments at moderate or “progressive” news media articles, with a reasonable comment and point, with the hook to curious readers to read more here.

Many long-time news readers are abandoning the mainstream media to find the facts they need, to make sound decisions about defending themselves and their families. Simply offering an alternative to the “narrative” that is becoming increasingly desperate, on the Left, resulting in broad based pushback, as in the #blacklismatter meme, takes advantage of the Lefts own propaganda network, to siphon off smart citizens.

  7. I interpreted Shannon Watts’ tweet as she thinks “putting a gun in a thug’s face” is a just a man’s fantasy, and she has no idea who Dana Loesch is (or she thinks Dana is some kind of NRA fembot).

    • Shannon knows who Dana is. Dana confronted Shannon at the NRA convention if I recall.

No, Shannon is mad b/c she caught her husband John Watts, Jr stroking off to the cover of Dana’s latest book. Boom Shannon. I hope you didnt sign a prenup

      • Shannon just has her security do the heavy lifting, like when her armed guard pushed Dana out of the way during that confrontation at the park. That’s more “civilized” apparently.

  8. Ever since Rosie O’Donnel’s “Million Mom” escapades of the 90s, the gun grabbers have thought they had the corner on the whole mom thing.

  9. When the Left tries to define a “woman”, we get Caitlynn Jenner.

To be fair, he’s probably a pretty good shot. He’s just not a very convincing woman.

  10. What’s funny about Shannon Watts disgust a mom would say she’d like to put a gun to the face of a thug is that I was just reading an anti Japanese dolphin hunting article and it was full of leftists screaming how they want to shoot and kill these Japanese fisherman (for eating food) and yet when it comes to self defense with a gun, they want to pretend they feel it’s savage to talk about pointing a gun at a criminal (whose trying to kill somebody.)

    • Yup, guns are for enforcing leftist ideals and dealing with those who will not “see reason” and choose to conform. Just like leftists/progressives are anti war…unless it’s a war to spread progressive ideology.

(Woah, I have an almost fullscreen comment box to type into, what the hell did I press?!)

I’ve just recently found out that WWI was largely entered into for progressive ideological reasons and I need to read more about that.

  11. Well of course Shannon doesn’t believe women want to “put a gun in the face of a thug” that’s what her hired goons are for, what you can’t afford to hire 24/7 armed security? shannon lives in a #alternatereality

  12. The message was fantastic. The odd video sequences didn’t make any sense to me and were actually distracting. Ms. Loesch did an outstanding job. The video producer, not so much.

  13. It is about time! We certainly will benefit from the Truth being spread and reinforced at every opportunity.
    Some quotes to ponder:

“Sometimes you have to pick the gun up to put the Gun down.”
    ― Malcolm X

“The majority of pacifists either belong to obscure religious sects or are simply humanitarians who object to taking life and prefer not to follow their thoughts beyond that point. But there is a minority of intellectual pacifists, whose real though unacknowledged motive appears to be hatred of western democracy and admiration for totalitarianism.”
    ― George Orwell

“Despotic governments can stand ‘moral force’ till the cows come home; what they fear is physical force.”
    ― George Orwell

He was quite vocal about the peace/anti-war agenda, and I think substituting “gun control” is a perfect and accurate co-opting of his insight because it fits so perfectly:

“The result of this is that so-called gun control propaganda is just as dishonest and intellectually disgusting as war propaganda. Like war propaganda, it concentrates on putting forward a ‘case’, obscuring the opponent’s point of view and avoiding awkward questions.”

Dana’s video blows this kind of fascist approach out of the water by cutting through the cloud of vagaries, misinformation and lies by putting a recognized and respected face on the issue. Reality.in.your.face!

We need to make sure the NRA knows how effective we feel this approach is and encourage them to turn up the heat.

  14. Id like to see more of these in the main stream.
Getting ready to teach my seven year daughter to shoot, i asked her pistol or rifle first? Pistol she said , like the one she wants to carry someday to help her fight bad guys.
    Good stuff!

  15. Nice ad but preaching to the choir.

When the NRA is able to run them during the Sunday morning nattering nabob political pinhead shows will be great. Bonus points if gives Georgie Snuffleupagus a stroke.

    • I saw that too. That’s who I thought it was at first before I read the rest of the article. (not that that is a bad thing)

  16. Meanwhile in IL…when the U.S. district Court voided IL’s concealed weapons statute in Dec. 2012 based on the McDonald decision, NRA contract lobbyist Todd Vandermyde and Richard Pearson of ISRA fell all over themselves to put Duty to Inform w/ criminal penalties of 6 MONTHS or 1 YEAR in Rep. Brandon Phelps “NRA backed” carry bill.

Since there is no requirement that the “officer” be on duty, in uniform, or within proper jurisdiction, armed citizens can now be disarmed, abducted, raped and murdered by police impersonators like John Gacy, who had a sheriff’s badge. Go team NRA!

  17. “But most importantly, she looks damn good in a leather jacket.”

Seriously? What the hell is wrong with you people?

  18. I like these NRA ads. Yeah it’s preaching to the choir but could you get local TV or NBC left-works(coined a phrase?) to run these. And Dustin YOU got problems-stay single…

  19. Great ad, and spot on! It is good to see women taking their safety and that of their families so seriously. I pity those women who support the idiotic bloomberg groups. I can’t understand how they support a hypocrite who has an army of security protecting him and his family while he tells women to disarm themselves, tells them to leave their children defenseless and without means of protection. Why do they listen to him when it’s obvious that if they our murdered, raped or assaulted it means nothing to him. I would think that the safety of their family would be more important than what a strange little billionaire tells them is important.

  20. Dan, drop the leftist crap, please. There’s plenty of Republicans who want to take our guns away. Why piss off your lefty supporters, how’s that going to help??

    • That “plenty of republicans” that want to take away guns is a small minority of republicans, while only a vast majority of democrats do.

    • I’m willing to agree that there are boocoos of R’s that don’t give a tinker’s damn about gun rights. The difference is, with the R’s that means they just go along with the rest, who do care about gun rights. With the D’s, if you don’t give a damn about gun rights, you just go along with the rest, who want to take gun rights away. Get it?

      • Problem is, should one of the many RINO’s running for president get elected, when they propose “common sense gun laws” after the next shooting…those follow-the-leader republicans in Congress will do exactly that.

  21. Glad to see my membership at work. Still would like to see situation-based pro-gun ads where a family is threatened and a perp is thwarted. Could be rape situations, any typical (but of course emotionally hot) situation.

  22. Ms. Shannon (Paid lobbyist with nanny) Watts is criticizing another woman for mother based choices???

How can any take her serious at this point?

  23. Great Ad. Thanks to the NRA and to all of us for supporting the NRA and projects like this. Only thing I would have changed would be this: “If a mom puts a gun to the face of a home invading thug and makes him run for his life, the story gets buried. But if she’s unarmed and murdered, the cameras will be at the scene before the police. And they will blame the gun instead of Murderer. ”
Because that is exactly what the News does in most cases. The main News outlets seem to be firmly in the pockets of the Gun Grabbers. Which seems odd as they depend on the first Amendment for their jobs. So, why are they so against the 2nd Amendment ? Don’t they realize that once the Bill of Rights starts to be eroded there will be no end to our loss of freedom ?

A przecież o to chodzi.
