New From Griffin Armament: 30SD Silencer

The hot thing in highly regulated firearms safety equipment: silencers. AKA suppressors. Tyler will be shooting one of Griffin Armament’s latest this week, their new 30SD (look for a review to follow). They come in six flavors to accommodate a variety of popular rifle calibers for your stealthy and comfortable shooting pleasure. Sadly, no price info yet. Press release after the jump . . .

Griffin Armament is now shipping the new 30SD (mod2) Suppressor. Completely redesigned for increased strength and durability, the 30SD features a tube “chassis” machined entirely from billet 17-4 with an integral blast chamber and front mount support.  Additionally, the new 30SD features a Patent Pending fluting that increases surface area by 40%, which leads to increased cooling efficiency and durability.  This fluting also increases strength-to-weight ratio allowing a stronger suppressor to be made to weight specifications of weaker silencers.  The patent pending baffle system ensures industry leading sound performance.  Many QD systems on the market feature metal on metal ratcheting components prone to wear by design.  The Griffin SDQD interface eliminates the possibility of wear by use of its heavy duty spring plate/ locking gate system.  Near infinite attachments are possible without wear to the SDQD interface.  Upon request from elite tactical units, a low profile flash suppressor was also integrated to further reduce flash signature.  Included with the 30SD is a 2 port 30 caliber muzzle brake, and for a limited time, when purchased through SilencerShop.com, an additional 5.56mm M4SD Hammer Comp mount is provided. Griffin Armament has maintained pricing on the 30SD silencer despite numerous performance upgrades in the interest of customer satisfaction.

When these common sense accessories are readily available and unregulated by NFA. I will purchase them for all my centerfire rifles. Until then, the prices and hoop jumping are too ridiculous for me to justify it. I applaud those people purchasing them so as to prod the cultural inertia to change the “laws”.

Didn’t Maxim sell these things for $2 in hardware stores everywhere?
Maybe $100-200 in today’s dollars, but not the prices I’ve been seeing lately.

When I was in the Air Rifle Field Target game, there were rifles on the market for $500-1500 that had fairly sophisticated moderators on them. Admittedly they weren’t built to withstand the blast of 7.62 NATO, but still, the moderator accounted for $100 of the price at most.

You do a form 1 and can weld your own up very nicely for about $150 in tools & materials, then its just $350 total. I’ve done it – still a nuisance but at least an affordable nuisance.

I’m guessing you haven’t priced Stellite, Inconel, or titanium, or priced a CNC machine, EDM machine, and such. How about rent/mortgage on a shop, insurance, payroll/benefits, etc……
