Quote of the Day: DC Mayor Hates You With a Passion Undimmed

“You have a mayor who hates guns. If it was up to me, we wouldn’t have any handguns in the District of Columbia. I swear to protect the Constitution and what the courts say, but I will do it in the most restrictive way as possible.” – D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser [via washingtonpost.com]

  1. avatar Gov. William J. Le Petomane says:

So she vows to ‘protect the constitution in the most restrictive way possible’.

Well, I guess at least it’s nice to find an honest liberal for once.

    1. avatar Johannes P. says:

“Well, I guess at least it’s nice to find an honest [politician] for once.”

      Fixed it for you.

      1. avatar Hobbez says:

Yes, at least she is honest about it. I have way more respect for a politician that is honest in what he/she believes, whether I agree with it or not.

What she believes disgusts me, but I respect her for being upfront about it. Unlike folks like Watts and Bloomberg who lie and deceive to get what they want.

      2. avatar Gov. William J. Le Petomane says:

Johannes, you’re confusing conservative with Republican (note that I said liberal and not Democrat). There are a lot of Republicans that are dishonest, but conservatives have no reason for dishonesty. A Republican says they’ll cut taxes and lower spending but a conservative actually believes in small government. They’d get nowhere saying they’re going to expand the welfare state and raise taxes while gutting our military and then getting in office and doing the exact opposite. Liberals on the other hand have to hide their agenda because they’re agenda is unpopular.

        1. avatar Grindstone says:

“a conservative actually believes in small government.”

Except when it comes to gays and religions other than Protestantism.

        2. avatar JasonM says:

          @Grindstone

and militarism…and domestic spying…and wealth transfer payments (social security & medicare)…and militarized police forces…and corporate bailouts…

A true conservative, like Barry Goldwater, would oppose all of that, and more. A modern “conservative”, like Mitch McConnell supports it all.

        3. avatar neiowa says:

You trot out the queer agenda before you even bring up Hitler?

Jason – go back and retake 4th grade civics. You obviously have not been paying attention.

      3. avatar CV76 says:

Annnd Gov. William J. Le Petomane fixed it for you Johannes P.

This woman is just another scum sucking bottom feeder from DC and all in for herself.

  2. avatar blahpony says:

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

    1. avatar Rad Man says:

You get the government you deserve.

      1. avatar Allen says:

We get the government Charles Manson deserves.

  3. avatar ST says:

In the abbatoir of bull which is DC, it is refreshing to see an adversary state their terms plainly.

  4. avatar DickDanger says:

So are gun owners the only people the “politically correct” can attack without dirtying their conscience?

    1. avatar Remasculated says:

      All religions…except Islam.

      1. avatar JR_in_NC says:

And males, especially if they are Caucasian.

Yep. They are the tolerant, open-minded ones…

        1. avatar LarryinTX says:

Especially if they are mature and full bodied?

  5. avatar Aaron says:

DC was the murder capital of the world when they had a total ban on handguns. Guess that “restictive” way of operating isnt very effective.

  6. avatar ThomasR says:

So she supports the Jim Crow laws that disarmed blacks in the south that kept them defenseless against the KKK .

She supports keeping her majority black constituents defenseless against a majority of black criminals that prey upon primarily a black population.

So she is by definition a tyrant and a dictator that a majority of her black constutuents placed in power because they want to be abused, raped, robbed, assaulted and murderered without a legal ability to defend themselves.

It’s what I have said for a while; subconsciously, most people like being slaves. We wouldn’t have slavery world wide for most of recorded history otherwise.

    1. avatar Chris says:

I think the reality is that most people fancy themselves the slavers, not the slaves.

And to be fair, for those getting fed off the government teat are probably right. It’s me and my wage-slave tax moneys that are paying for them to eat, get tattoos and do meth. *shrug*

      So maybe they are right?

      1. avatar Summer says:

I think he’s saying that most people are followers. They want a leader to tell them what to do. They don’t wan tto be responsible for their own lives and decisions. They want someone else to take care of everything for them, even if it restricts their liberty.

Few people have the will to say: “Give me liberty or give me death” and then be willing to back that up with a self-directed life.

It’s the sheep-like, slave-like, child-like, easily-led mentality of most of the human population which makes the crappy world we have possible. If most people had a strong will toward independence it would be too costly and difficult for any tyrant to gain or maintain power for more than a week at a time. But instead we have a few freedom loving people surrounded by slaves and people begging to have chains slapped back on them.

  7. avatar Bob101 says:

Wow! I know. This is how progressives roll, but you never hear them admit it. I guess the government no longer fears its people.

    1. avatar Old Ben turning in grave says:

Not only does she not fear her constituents, she’s pandering to them. It’s not an accident that DC government is filled with Progs and other authoritarian types.

    2. avatar David Katz says:

I never thought I’d say this, but I’m glad to live in Maryland. We’ve got a pro-gun governer now, so maybe we’ll have some positive change for the cause of freedom.

It’s really sad that the district that is meant to be the shining star of the nation has such a farcical government.

  8. avatar Scott says:

Another ignorant politician. Maybe someone should educate her on the necessity to defend ones self against criminals who are not going to adhere to ANY gun laws!

    1. avatar Curtis in IL says:

She has an armed security detail. Why would she care?

  9. avatar Pikes Pete says:

“Yes Mr. Lincoln freed our African slaves. But we swear to resist their treatment as equals to the superior White man.”

I have to assume she supports the above made up statement of a KKK Grand Wizard circa 1866.

    1. avatar LarryinTX says:

Well, if it were not for a white president and white voters and white soldiers, they might well still be slaves. So they hate white men. Go figure.

    2. avatar Summer says:

I love how they call themselves ridiculous things like wizards and dragons. As if they all still live in mommy’s basement playing dungeons and dragons and they just shifted all that terminology to their racism.

  10. avatar pwrserge says:

It’s ok… We hate you too petty tinpot dictator.

  11. avatar A-Rod says:

I support her right to free speech but I wish she would STFU in the most restrictive way.

    1. avatar pwrserge says:

Sedition is not protected by free speech.

  12. avatar Nomad57 says:

Well than step down you liberty hating c@$t. Oh shoot, there is one of those pesky words from the constitution you hate so much.

  13. avatar Tom in Oregon says:

From the people who brought you Marion Berry.

    Now her.

    1. avatar Old Ben turning in grave says:

This. So very much this. “I would not have been caught smoking crack in a hotel room with a hooker if my judgement hadn’t been impaired by my drinking problem.” Sounds reasonable to us, Mr. Mayor!

      1. avatar Geoff PR says:

And then making a comment that will live eternal:

“The enraged Barry muttered over and over, “Bitch set me up . . . . I shouldn’t have come up here . . . goddamn bitch”…

        http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/local/longterm/library/dc/barry/video.htm

        1. avatar Old Ben turning in grave says:

This was an important early event toward my eventual realization that leftists have no sense of shame or honor. For years I would be amazed that you could have them absolutely dead to rights, yet they wouldn’t budge an inch, and their Prog constituents would continue to vote for them. It’s not that they don’t believe their leaders are crooked as hell, it’s that they just don’t care as long as a given agenda is being pushed. It’s a foreign concept for Americans, but it’s just how Progs think. I always knew this at some level, but full gut realization came slowly.

  14. avatar Hannibal says:

If she’s being intellectually honest she could start by disarming anyone guarding her.

    1. avatar Dirk Diggler says:

      THIS!

We need to harp on her repeatedly about all of the armed guards protecting her, City Council, and all of the Feds. . . .. . . WHY ARE THERE LIVES MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOURS OR YOUR FAMILY’S WHEN THEY ARE OUR CIVIL SERVANTS???

  15. avatar fishydude says:

So she seems to have declared that she intends to order the police chief not to issue any conceal carry permits. After all, “may issue” means “no issue” if that is what the current ruling class wants. That is the way it is in Massachusetts. It depends on what the 350 city and town councils order the police chief to do. 350 different criteria for issuing over and above the minimum requirements set by the state.

So you can bet dollars to donuts that she has already ordered the DC police chief not to issue any conceal carry permits.
Of course, we know she doesn’t really hate guns. If she did, she would disarm her personal security unit and the DC police.

  16. avatar Chip Bennett says:

Elections matter. The residents of the District got exactly the type of mayor for whom they voted.

#BlackLivesMatter – except in the District, where the mayor will execute the laws and constitution in the most-restrictive manner possible, thereby preventing law-abiding, majority-black residents from defending themselves in the area that boasts the highest murder rate in the country.

    1. avatar John M. says:

It’s almost like having most of her constituents living in fear of armed street gangs is good for her political career.

      1. avatar darkstar says:

Hey, it probably is. It’s well known for years that city councilmen or aldermen or whatever they call them in Chicago were tied in with the gangs for various reasons. http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/January-2012/Gangs-and-Politicians-An-Unholy-Alliance/

Would not surprise me if DC was the same.

  17. avatar Tomyironmane says:

So I read her name… and I was going to make a snarky joke about Mario.

“So she doesn’t like firearms? Why would she? She kidnaps princesses for fun and can’t roll one fat Italian plumber. What do you mean a different Bowser?”

    There we go.

But I was looking for material to joke about and found out about Mary Bowser, who was a spy who got herself inserted in the confederate equivalent to the White House, and probably did a hell of a lot to keep General Grant in information and shorten a really bloody war… I wonder if the two women are related? And if so what her ancestor would think about her current plans to keep people helpless in the face of violent criminals…

  18. avatar Rokurota says:

“Hey, Al Qaeda and ISIS! Us next!”

  19. avatar SleeStac says:

I’ll bet the people that guard her are all armed. I’d like to see her practice what she preaches and go out without an armed escort. There would be fewer places she could visit in DC if she did.

  20. avatar LarryinTX says:

” I swear to protect the Constitution and what the courts say, but I will do it in the most restrictive way as possible”

What, she needs a court to explain the 2A to her? Nobody is that stupid. Why does she not simply protect the Constitution, let the courts pi$$ up a rope?

  21. avatar Doghouse says:

As a gunowner living in DC, I thank Gura et. al. for leading the legal challenge to finally restore my right to own a handgun, and the indefatigable Emily Miller for hectoring the DC gov’t in the press until they (somewhat) streamlined the onerous and self-contradictory firearms licensing process. As Bowser’s admission demonstrates, our natural, civil, and Constitutionally-recognized right to self-defense is something that DC begrudges its citizens, far preferring to stick to their usual business of doling out graft, buying votes, and mouthing trendy slogans so they get invited to the right parties.* The DC council cares not a whit for rights of any sort, only in taking their turn at the public teat and spending other people’s money. One would be hard-pressed to find a purer example of self-interested, hypocritical, punitive machine politics anywhere outside of Delware or Chicago.

*I have no evidence of criminal wrongdoing in the current administration, but precedent suggests that my suspicions to that effect will not end up being unwarranted.

  22. avatar Roscoe says:

Those two look pretty happy in the photo; I wonder if Bowser is now Obama’s ‘prettiest mayor’?

  23. avatar Chip in Florida says:

To whom do we make out the checks regarding her recall?

    1. avatar Chuck in IL says:

      Forget it Jake, it’s Chinatown.

  24. avatar Jay-El says:

I would expect that she swore to preserve, protect and uphold the Constitution of the United States, so help her God. Did she really turn around and add a disclaimer?

    1. avatar Jus Bill says:

      Her fingers were crossed.

  25. avatar G Man says:

Liberty – When the People distrust Government
Tyranny – When the Government distrusts the People

    1. avatar JR_in_NC says:

Not bad. We could also try it this way:

Liberty: When the government fears the people.
Tyranny: When the people fear the government.

  26. avatar bozo says:

Wow. I’d be scared as hell of an armed populace too if I dictated like that.

  27. avatar Former Water Walker says:

If Barry Soetoro had a sister…yeah I know he has boatloads of half siblings. Actually she could be the offspring of Holder…on the the + side Illinois now has a republican billionaire governor to replace the most anti 2A a##wipe in the nation pat quinn. I hope Bruce Rauner knows who got him elected…

  28. avatar Jonathan - Houston says:

This witch refuses to face the facts and recoils at the thought of people ever exercising their freedom.

Instead, she would rather work herself up into a frothy, gun grabber lather of (self)righteous indignation about other people’s firearms, before retreating with her own armed security detail to the confines of her gated community. Oh that’s rich.

  29. avatar Cameron S. says:

I think Mario needs to jump on Bowsers head a few times…

  30. avatar D-FENS says:

It’s all a big misunderstanding. She said “You have a mayor who hates gums.” GUMS guys. Wouldn’t you if you were her?

  31. avatar Shannon's Pimp says:

    Picture says it all…

  32. avatar Ralph says:

To quote Marion Barry, “B!tch set me up.”

  33. avatar Jim R says:

I completely abhor her viewpoint–but I can respect her honesty.

Too many folks these days think “like” and “respect” are the same thing. They aren’t.

  34. avatar Raul Ybarra says:

That quote should play well in the coming court cases coming on the issue.
