“U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Offices of Border Patrol and Training and Development are inspecting the quality of agents’ M4 carbines throughout Border Patrol sectors nationwide,” kvoa.com reports. Fair enough, right? “Agents tell us [that] some of those M4s have not been replaced. And, we’ve learned, agents are required to share rifles amongst each other.” So the United States government sends crates of brand-spanking new fully-automatic rifles to Mexico’s police and military — a significant percentage of which “seep” to drug cartels — and our Border Patrol Agents are having to share guns to protect us from drug thugs, mules and other Mexican miscreants? The agents’ union is not amused . . .

“There’s a lot of agents that are pretty upset over it,” said Art del Cueto, president of the Border Patrol’s Tucson Sector union. “We know it’s a dangerous job. We know what we signed on for but we want to have as much of the equipment as we need to perform the job.” . . .

Del Cueto tells us that because some of those M4s have not been replaced, agents are pooling their weapons, which makes it difficult to personalize the settings on a rifle, such as the sights . . .

Jeff Prather is a former drug enforcement agent who now runs the Warrior School in Tucson. He says agents have reached out to him about the rifle shortage.

He said agents stand the risk of being over-powered on the border.

“Cartels have always been better equipped, the paramilitary forces, the corrupt Mexican soldiers and federales at times,” Prather said.

He says agents have contacted him and told him about their concerns about sharing the weapons.

“And now they’re seriously concerned. Because if they’re concerned enough to reach out and contact me and reach out so we get this message out, they are not only frustrated but they are in fear for their lives.”

“The problem is they are now pool guns so what happens is instead of having their individual ones they have sighted in they’re having to use a pool weapon that you don’t know who used it before you,” del Cueto said.

It gets worse . . .

Prather believes removing some of the rifles maybe politically motivated. He says he was told that many of these guns are being removed for issues that are easily repaired like the firing pin and bolt.

He broke down a M4 as he spoke.

“This weapon is designed to be able to be in a battle situation, changed out rather quickly even so fast that modern weapons have areas to hold spare bolts,” he said.

That makes him suspicious that the agency could be disarming its agents.

Well they are, aren’t they? And while we never attribute to conspiracy what can be assigned to incompetence, it’s clear that the President’s commitment to upholding his oath to defend America’s borders is utterly bankrupt. In case you hadn’t already figured that out.

  1. Wait. We’re giving military surplus to Mayberry police but a Federal Agency dedicated to securing our borders is having trouble appropriately arming agents?

What kind of bizarro world am I living in?

    • Can’t be discouraging all those future Democrat votes from entering the country, can we? They are gonna need a lot of ’em to get Hillary! elected.

      • Indeed. Even being less cynical, it does show exactly how important border security is to the current administration.

Didn’t the FDA just procure a bunch of submachineguns? Or was it the Department of Agriculture. Seems like we could disarm some of the non-DOJ/DHS Federal agencies if we want to keep dollars at the Federal level.

        • With Obumer and Holder might as well have unarmed bobbies “securing” our borders.

Perhaps we could put Grey LIne tourist guides to assist the islamist extremists that don’t speak Mexican. And one stop signup center for foodstamps, housing vouchers, voter registration and an Obumaphone. A stretch limo to speed them to their assignments in the heartland of the Great Satan.

    • “We’re giving military surplus to Mayberry police but a Federal Agency dedicated to securing our borders is having trouble appropriately arming agents? ”

No kidding. It seems infinitely more appropriate to give armored assault vehicles to the Border Patrol than to cops who aren’t trained thoroughly on the equipment they already have.

  2. Maybe the government will supply all the agents with 80% lowers that they can finish themselves then build their own rifles. Or…they can use “ghost guns”. (sarc)

Do they have rules against carrying personal firearms? If not, my guess is you will see a lot of privately owned firearms pulling duty.

    • If they don’t have a rule like that, they will–Like I said, Democrats need those warm bodies to go to the polls and use all those phony registrations they manufacture.

      • For rules like that I am reminded of what a military chaplain told me once. The rules don’t over rule his responsibility to return to his wife. I know whenever he deployed he made arrangements to be discretely armed with a weapon for personal defense. Can’t fault him for that. Wouldn’t fault a CBP Agent for making similarly discrete use of a personal rifle.

        • It’s often easier to get forgiveness than it is to get permission. I’ve lived by that simple rule most of my adult life.

      • I know DEA can purchase their own ARs from approved suppliers. If it’s just a bolt issue, perhaps they can buy a new bolt?

  3. Well, I don’t have to wonder if you think that this president is an idiot, corrupt, or both.

If I was POTUS, border patrol would have 300 BLK ARs with stainless barrels and suppressors. AR-10s, Tavors, M14, 1911s, Sig Mk 25s, and all conceivable guns would be available. Armed reaper drones would be available for immediate Fire support. I’d reassign MRAPs to the border. Agents could use mini drones to patrol suspicious areas while safely inside their pickup trucks.

And I would deport illegals en masse unless they had temporary work visas.

      • Absolutely.
If groups of illegal foreign nationals can infiltrate the United States, then what’s keeping illegal foreign nationals with extremeist ties and ideologies from infiltrating the United States. To top that, what’s keeping small, highly trained military or paramilitary units who aren’t pro US from infiltrating the United States?

    • Illegals should be deported regardless of whether they have “work permits”. If they jumped the fence to get into the U.S., there should be no “amnesty” of any sort for them, period. If they want “work permits” they can apply for them legally before entering the U.S. Once they break the law to get in, they are excluded.

Typically if “Mojados” jump the fence or swim the river it’s because they *can’t qualify* for legal entry and *should* be excluded.

  4. There’s been a lot of speculation that the buzzard-in-chief
may force amnesty in part or whole in the near future (read
before the GOP takes over in January). The moment
anything like this is announced expect mass crossings.
Any armed agent that could possibly confront the truckloads
of people streaming up from Mexico would create troublesome
political problems. Better to disarm them.

  5. Cant have all those newly minted dems being stopped, that might actually affect the national gerrymandering scheme which is openly touted by the liar in chief. Voter registration is about to have a whole new meaning. I think this is what they meant by turning Texas purple.

  6. And they have TONS and Tons of arms and ammo setting in Homeland insecurity warehouses ……… where is O boy ..on the golf course ????

    • There is that, but I was going to suggest the Border Patrol just temporarily borrow M4s from the Department of Education.

  7. Now here is a novel idea: if our government would stop infringing on our right to keep and bear arms, We the People (which includes those border patrol agents) could simply purchase our own carbines (full auto if we so choose) and use them at work, for leisure, and/or for lawful self-defense.

  8. Disarmed for one reason…Alien invasion the likes you’ve never seen is about to begin. Import 8 million New Democrat voters and the DNC wins in 2016.

  9. Simple solution, bring your personal AR. If the management wants to put a stop to it, then let them put it in writing. Leak the letter and bring these useless government plutocrats down

    • That’s what I was thinking. If I was Border Patrol and I knew I was going to be operating in the desert on one or two man patrols, I would just bring my personal AR-15. As noted above, best to seek forgiveness than ask for permission.

  10. “Agents tell us [that] some of those M4s have not been replaced. And, we’ve learned, agents are required to share rifles amongst each other”

Oh fvck no. That is unsat.

And the fact that we’re still giving military aid packages to the mexican military, which ends up in the hands of the cartel, is not solving any problem.

Ive tried damn hard to give those in power the benefit of the doubt, and they’re not helping with bulls hit such as this. The compilation of events surrounding fast and furious is also becoming pretty damning, speaking of the shenanigans on the border. Republicans, since you now have additional seats in congress and now control the Senate, the ball is in your court. Time to get moving!

  11. Yet Fedzilla manages to find M4’s/M16’s to provide to state and local police. The American Dream really has turned into the Amerikan Nightmare!

    • And let us not forget the thousands of M1 carbines that the American people have paid for setting in South Korea that every Border patrol agent could use and have , plus could be sold back to the people and pay off some National DEBT…. and all I see is a pack of SICK _ O”S and LIES in Wash. D.C. …….will the GOP get off their butts ,,, DON’T COUNT on it…we still have lots of good old boy ONE WORLDER —GOP.

  12. Hillary has to get more voters somehow. Disarming Border Patrol Agents should help her out with the group of future voters coming over the border..

  13. as long as they DISARM the UNconstitutional “100mile in-land Constitution-Free Zones”-checkpoint goons, all good to go.

but at the border itself? Duh, what y’all expect from the ATF Fast & Furious criminals?

at this juncture in history, the fact anyone geopolitically-awake would or should be ‘shocked’ at govt terrorists’ incompetence, negligence, as equally as planned intentional mendacity, is the real ‘surprise.’

  14. One of my uncles, former military, came up with the idea of relocating some active military bases to the border. He figures having a armored division conducting random search and destroy maneuvers ought to be a bit discouraging to people trying to cross.

    • Your uncle is a very smart man. There’s lots of nothing down there, which makes it an excellent space for these specific activities.

  15. Heres an idea, how about all the border patrol agents get together and go visit their *superiors* and install a change of command.
Not taking away from the importance of the job..but we are at a point where people have got to stop rolling over.

    • “Not taking away from the importance of the job..but we are at a point where people have got to stop rolling over.”

Amen to that. Either stand-up or stand down.

  16. You know, it’s almost like the party that currently holds the executive branch might benefit a little if a few million more illegal aliens became citizens.

    • That would explain why under Obama deportations have increased more than 50% than under Bush, right?

I know several legal immigrants here who voted against Obama the second time because of the way he treats illegals that happen to be their relatives. He is definitely NOT the friend of illegals.

  17. What are you yanks putting up with the lame duck for each day he puts your liberty at risk impeach him get rid of him for all our sakes

  18. I dont get where this “future democrat” bs comes from. The hispanic culture is very conservative. Not to mention, these people know first hand about government corruption and tyranny, what better supporters of the 2nd amendment? Also, lets not forget that these immigrants leave everything behind to find work, not a government babysitter. Its fairly simple, fix the immigration system, secure the border and talk to said immigrants like human beings capable of making intelligent decisions. There is no reason the largest minority group wouldnt vote for fundamental constitutional principles.

    • “I dont get where this “future democrat” bs comes from.”

      http://www.gallup.com/poll/163451/hispanics-ages-tilt-democratic.aspx
So it is not BS, comprehend?

“Not to mention, these people know first hand about government corruption and tyranny, what better supporters of the 2nd amendment?”

      nbclatino.com/2013/03/12/poll-regardless-of-political-party-latino-voters-support-gun-control-laws/
So the bulk favor gun grabbing.

“Also, lets not forget that these immigrants leave everything behind to find work, not a government babysitter.”

Most illegal immigrant families are on welfare.

    • Hispanics from central America may be socially conservative, but they still view government in a mostly paternal manner. They (as a group) view their own countries failures in government as the exception, kind of like how Marxist think Communism failed because of Stalin, not because the system itself was flawed. So unfortunetely this ties into the Democrat narrative more often than not. It’s not just Hispanics however, many Asians fall into the same trap. Asians as a group work hard and are very pro-business, pro-education, but somehow view the role of the government should be paternal, thus by and large vote Democrat.

  19. Important milestone for an old thread:

    http://thehill.com/opinion/katie-pavlich/224465-katie-pavlich-why-is-obama-ignoring-the-experts-on-illegal-immigration

Becauuse Obama doesn’t care what LEOs think on immigration.
Nor does he care about the majority of what citizens think, on immigration,
or what the voters think, judging by the results of the mid terms for Congress and Governors, where securing the border, FIRST was a consistent theme.
Nor does he carecwhat Boehner and McConell arectellijg him, what Congress wants, which actually, has a role in the decision.

No, this is all about preserving his legacy, and satisfying his promises to the radical left, by impeachable Executive Action.
