James Yeager reckons this is the best of times for gun enthusiasts, price-wise. The gun guru reckons we’re heading for the worst of times, when a Democrat will [once again] take control of the White House. He’s buying all the magazines his grandsons will need for their entire life. No doubt: ammo, magazine and firearm prices have finally come down from their post-Newtown highs. And a Hillary White House would goose gun-related sales like Barbara Palvin stimulates Victoria’s Secret volume. But it looks like the Republicans will take the Senate in the mid-terms and, I’m thinking/hoping/praying, recapture the White House in ’16. If so, prices will remain stable or, indeed, fall further. Meanwhile, he’s right. No matter what, the glut won’t last. Buy.

90 Responses to James Yeager: Buy Ammo and Mags NOW!

  1. I take everything crazy uncle james says with a grain of salt.

Now is a good time to buy if you have waited out the “panic” but don’t go overboard just yet.

There are 0 indications of another panic. Even the 08 elections were a mild bump compared to the perfect storm that was latter 2012.

    • Yup.

And I think it’s funny that all of those who know who Yeager is as well as how crazy he is are showing how deeply embedded in gun culture we really are.

    • You expect a Western Union messenger to stop by with a telegram to let you know ahead of time?

EBOLA in America – brought to you by Barack Hussein Obama and the democrat party

      • But I’d bet fair money that the chance of another glut/shortage cycle or panic will happen is at or near 100% eventually. Why not stock up now?

    • I would appreciate (in fact I will pay cash) for a heads-up email 1 mo. before making such posts like the OP. That way, I can beat the rush.

      : )

The time to buy weapons and ammo has passed! Now is the time to buy baby-wipes, water and Ramen Noodles.

      : D

    • Although I think Yeager is a bit out there… Better safe than sorry. The perfect storm is our destructive monetary policy which i feel will come to a head in the next year or two.. this is our real threat. I know America will feel a lot of pain then. Hopefully we handle it in a constructive way. But life experience has shown me what we, as Americans, are capable of (good and bad) and unfortunately also how ill prepared we are to handle even the smallest real world hardships. Pray for peace but prepare for a fight.

    • The moment you hear Hillary is running, it’ll already be too late. All that needs to exist is the threat of her canidacy and shit will skyrocket. Promise.

  2. Ha! Do I win an internet for mentioning Yeager in the secret service post a few minutes ago? Icompletey agree with the crazy guy 🙂

  3. He must be expecting the midterms to go horribly wrong, because if the GOP takes the Senate, then we have 2 years of safety, minimum.

Does he have any monetary interests in ammo or mag sales? Is he goosing his own profits with this?

    • When the GOP takes the Senate, it will get worse initially. The lame duck party will go nuts more so than if they retained it. They can do a lot of damage before they have to give up their seats.

      • They can’t do much without the House, which is still gleefully rejecting everything the upper house does out of spite.

    • Never underestimate the power of the GOP to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Whether accidental or on purpose.

  4. 2016 will be the Legacy Election – H. R. Clinton vs. JEB Bush. Scott Walker or Bobby Jindal will be JEB’s running mate but I still cannot decide whom will be Clinton’s VP.

    • I really hope you’re wrong about Jeb. A Jindal/Walker ticket would be beautiful, but keep the Bush family away from Washington. Clintons, too, but that’s another story.

    • Bulletproof vest Joe has worked well for Obuma.

I don’t think the old hag will be the nominee.

RINOs look to be thinking of repeat with Romney. That’s one way to get a demtard elected.

    • That seems highly unlikely.
Front runners two years early rarely get the nomination. In 2006 Hilary was the unanimous choice for the nomination in 2008.

Also, since the democratic party switched from being the party of small government, free enterprise, and states’ rights into the party of government meddling, around the beginning of the 20th century, there have only been back-to-back democratic presidents twice. And both of those cases involved the first president dying in office.

If the republicans can nominate an actual small government conservative, instead of another big government political insider like the last 36 years, they’ll be much more likely to win.

    • Jeb won’t be running for a few reasons. For one, his mother publicly said (regarding Jeb’s chances) “There’s been enough Bushes in office. It’s time for someone else to run.”

Another reason is that he’s done some crony things. For example, mandatory drug tests in Florida for all welfare applicants. This turned to cost more money than it saved the State of Florida. Guess who owns the company that makes those drug tests? His wife.

Romney is going to run again. I think his wife is pushing him, as she sees it as their responsibility to the church that Mittens becomes president. Kind of like a “this is my mission from God”.

Should be interesting as he’s former gov of Mass. Wonder what his stance on guns will be? I really hope he makes it this time, I think he’d be a great pres.

  5. Yeager has alot of dumb ideas and videos but this one is quite reasonable: buy low sell high. nothing wrong about buying gear when its cheap

    • I’ve got a few thousand lying around. It’s geting easier and easier to find it. It sat on wall marts shelf for two days here before they ran out.

      • Man, that sure sounds nice… It is getting easier to find .22 here in Wisconsin too. And by “easier” I mean that I’ve been able to buy 3 boxes within the last 12 months.

  6. The midterms should be safe.
Hillary Clinton is even more radical than Obama in some ways so we will probably have people trying to shove an assault weapons ban through congress if she gets elected. However, I have doubts that that will happen. If the GOP plays it safe, chooses a candidate that has credentials and prior successes, and has a clear plan for whatever the most important issue is during the election (if ebola dies out it will probably be the economy) then I think it’s a straight path to victory. None of the serious republican candidates appear to be anti gun and with a republican congress, trying to pass any gun control is going to be extremely difficult.

    • But… but… but… First Woman President! It will be Historic! Republican war on Women! Voters will eat it up, to prove how open minded they are. All the dissenters will go from being betrayed as Racists to Misogynists and summarily ignored. The Republicans will do as they always do, run some “Moderate” loser like Christie or Jeb Bush, and will cement the coronation of Hillary. Sure, none of this may come to pass, but this has happened enough times that it has me nervous.

  7. “James Yeager reckons this is the best of times for gun enthusiasts, price-wise.”

The vid is from June, but I would agree the info is still valid. Guess I need another box of lake city, and an AK as nice as that one.

    • Yeah not only is the video from June, but prices have come down quite a lot since then. On mags, ammo, and firearms. A lot. I’d say he was wrong. If you bought a ton in June you’d be down like 20% on your investment today.

    • Funny.

The post RIGHT ABOVE yours, posted a mere six minutes before your, mentions it.

      Situational awareness…

  8. Ebola spreads, panic ensues, people increase their food purchases to shelter at home, shelves start to go bare, people freak and begin to hoard food, social unrest breaks out, people run to buy more guns and ammo in response. It’s not so far fetched.

  9. I predict a total loss in 2016. I’m not sure how the midterm will go but if it’s favorable it won’t be by much.

Always buy low and hold on to it. That’s trye regardless of who said it.

  10. Please vote Republican from here on out, folks. The D’s will try again one day to take your guns. They cannot be trusted.

    • Do you not remember the last presidential election? Romney had already signed an “assault weapons ban” in his state. If you think the GOP will save us, then pull your head from the sand my friend.

      • Romney wasn’t a great choice, but keep in mind that statism and gun control (PC name: gun safety) are foundational philosophies of the Democrat party. They’re also the party of big government, high taxes, and less freedom. Remember that Republicans have typically opposed tax increases and Obamacare and are also pro-gun.

Republicans aren’t perfect. Some of the Independent who value small government and freedom are great choices. Democrats are almost universally full of sh!t.

      • Romney had already signed an “assault weapons ban” in his state

MA already had a permanent AWB since 1994. Permanent — not like the federal law which had a sunset provision. The law that Romney signed was actually an improvement over the 1994 law that it replaced.

  11. After the ’08 election panic passed I started buying ammo whether I needed or not when it went on sale. When the great Newtown panic began I wish I had more but I never ran out only a little low. I have now rebuilt my inventory to pre Newtown levels and in some categories, i.e., 9mm I have gone beyond that.

Now for the 2016 election. Hillary Clinton will not be getting the nomination nor will Jeb Bush. Whether it is Liz Warren, Martin O’Malley or TBD, Hillary will fail again. (Not that any of these would be any better for gun rights.) Eight years ago she had a lock the nomination and as soon as someone else showed up she folded. Clinton is in a weaker postion today than she was in 2006. Jeb is a fantasy.

    • You are correct. Perhaps the NJ Blimp for dem candidate.

Jeb/Jed is an idiotic delusion (fixed it for you).

EBOLA in America – brought to you by Barack Hussein Obama and the democrat party

    • I’m with you: Hillary Clinton will not be president. She crumpled in 2008 despite her “inevitability,” and will do the same in ’16. She’s just not a good candidate. Her book tour was a catastrophe.

Whether it will be a Republican who beats her is up in the air IMHO, but she won’t be president.

      • HRC did NOT crumple- She started poorly and then roared back at the end. Wasn’t enough to overcome Obolas’ prior momentum.

I myself believe she will not be as bad as O. She’s after the power and the perks; he’s a True Believer ™. And I don’t want her at all. Ever. Don’t want Jeb and don’t want Christie (anti-2A RINO).

Also agree with the comment indicating, “We ALL have to vote Republican.” Yeah, they suck- But if you don’t vote you guarantee Reid, Pelosi and the Dems. The 2A rests on a single vote in SCOTUS. Next president calls the shots on that one; we stand a chance with a Republican-nominated justice. None at all with a Dem-nominated justice.

  12. I think more import restrictions are likely after the election. It only takes a stroke of the pen. Congress is not needed.

If you want an imported item, I would suggest you buy now.

    • At worst, that will only affect you AK lovers and even that is not much of a threat as at least three NATO members make 7.62 x 39 ammo and of course the EvilSerbs at PPU will be ramping up production to profit at the expense of Russia.

      • Not true.

        1989 Import Ban
In 1989, then President George signed an Executive Order halting the importation of semi-automatic rifles that could not meet certain “sporting” criteria into the U.S.

There was no exception for where the firearm was imported from. SCARs, Benelli’s, etc., could be next.

        • I suspect that Bush 41 did that as a favor to domestic firearms manufactures. Banning imports of semiautomatic rifles wil not cut off the supply of semiautomatic rifles. It will only help domestic manufacturers. Now I know that Barry is the greatest firearms salesman in history but I don’t think he will want to fill their coffers any more than he has to. Besides after Novermber he is going to have other problems that are far more serious than SCARs and Benillis.

      • Except for Hungary and Romania, all the others make brass-cased ammo that costs the same as domestic 7.62×39 which is expensive and the same cost as .308. No difference in price there, might as well buy domestic 7.62×39 at that point.

    • Every president since Reagan has signed an import ban or had the ATF draft up some sort of restriction with no opposition or plans to repeal it:

Reagan: “AP” ammo of certain types
      Bush: “assault weapons”
Clinton (worst offender): “assault pistols”, added 7.62×39 to the AP list, new Chinese rifles/pistols/ammo, Russian pistols and certain rifles (like Dragunov’s), banned imported AW compliant firearms later in 1998 and set the restrictive 10 round/no features allowed on imported semi-auto rifles
      Bush 2: barrels
Obama: surplus 5.45 ammo and Russian AK’s

I can only imagine what they will go for next. My guess is all AK’s period or ammo in non-NATO calibers/no ammo from Russia. More likely magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds.

  13. I do not think he is all that crazy. Low information voters will not remember what Obama does for the first year after this election, and he knows it. He still has his pen and phone, and a congress that will refuse to take action against him. I predict that prices will go up, but I also predict prices will come back down in 2016 if We The People are strong enough to win in 2016.

    • Who said anything about panic? The moral of the story is buy low sell high. The market is low, ARs are ridiculously cheap right now. You can get a case of brass 223 for $299 shipped to your door. If you have some extra funds to put towards these things it would make sense to buy them now while they are cheap vs something happening in the news that would cause a spike in prices.

I’m still clueless as where the hell you got “Yes, lets incite panic” from.

  14. I didn’t watch the video, I usually cant make through any of his videos, but the point is correct. Not because of hysteria or that another mass panic is just around the corner, but because it is smart. A lot of people (myself included) got caught with our pants down in 2012 because life was good, cases of 223/556 were stacked floor to ceiling at most stores. Some people paid out of their ears to get ammo where it was available, others of us (me in particular) just had to shoot less to keep ammo around because we couldnt compete with the hoarders. Now is the perfect time to buy some insurance against that for any future rainy days. Who knows how long it will last, but unless the price will drop significantly in the coming months or hopefully years its as good a time as any to build that buffer back up.

  15. Took his advice three months ago and went out and bought a case of 7.62×39 and I didn’t even own an AK. Problem with that is ya cant have ammo and no gun for it….fixed that shortly enough. It is still good advice, though some of the general overstock has been worked through ammo prices are still pretty low and may just fall a bit further after the election (thankfully the tide is washing some of the antigun trash in DC out to sea).

    • I like the logic. It will go like this. “Honey, do you remember that ammo I bought. Well, I do not have a gun that shoots that, so I need to buy another gun.” 🙂

    • I have been buying 500 round bricks at Dicks for the last two months. They have it every other week. $25 for Remington. $5 more than pre Newtown but still affordable.

    • I just grabbed a brick of Remington .22 for $25 from Natchez. I added some 9mm & .45 to amortize the shipping costs. Spent less per round than anything local in recent months, even with shipping. Just got to watch the ammo sites for deals.

Even without the web I have been able to get bricks of .22 from some mom & pop LGS in neighboring small towns for $35, plus a little gas money. It’s out there, at least around here, if you dig a little. (Although our local Dick’s hasn’t had it for a couple years.)

  16. Good advice from Yaeger; been there – done that – starting with CA anti-gun run up beginning in 2010. One can never be overstocked, but…

BTY, no embedded link to Barbara Palvin? Oh well, Google’s only a click or two away; but why have viewers leave the site to see eye candy.

  17. The video is correct, and proof even a monkey banging on a keyboard can achieve poetic truth.

In 2008, there was a price panic. In 2012, there was an epic price panic due to Newtown and Obama’s re-election. Given that pretty soon Conservative voters are going to be outnumbered and out bred by Democrats, a smart man should plan on cyclic ‘gun runs’ every election year-until AWB 2.0 happens for good. A wise man would even buy some mags for ‘trading investments’ when the next shortage happens.

As to timing , who knows. It may happen after the November midterms if the Dems take Congress , perish the thought, or certainly when Hillary takes the White House in ’16. Due to aforementioned demographics , I doubt even Jesus could win against her if He ran on the GOP ticket.

    • “proof even a monkey banging on a keyboard can achieve poetic truth.”

+1 ,Good thing no beverages were around when I read this.

  18. Sept ’14 saw over 3,000 new gun sales a day, the panic has not slowed by much.
time to concentrate on beans, boots and bandaids

  19. This is the problem, right here. This is for why years now I haven’t been able to buy a damn box of .22LR for less than a dollar a cartridge, because survivalists and hoarders are spending tens of thousands grabbing up everything they can just so they can stash it in their basement. Last week was the first time in a year that I could go to the store and they had ANY 9mm, much less the flavor I’m looking for. Stop encouraging people to panic and trash the supply for the rest of us who scrimp from box to box.

    • No offense, heck I’m in the same boat as you I was down to my last 3 boxes of 40smith and almost completely tapped out on 308 for my rifle because it was the end of deer season when SHTF post Newtown. To top it off I was on a plane on December 14th out of the country until January with shitty internet connection. That’s life for you. Sometimes it isn’t fair. Unless they stole those thousands of dollars though they are doing nothing wrong.

    • Sorry Tim, but you’re wrong.

You might as well have said “from each according to their ability; to each according to their need”

It’s a free market out there and every man has the right to engage in it as he sees fit, without regard to your wishes.

Furthermore, your problem seems to be of your own making.
      No 9mm? $1/round for .22lr?
The internet will solve those issues for you in spades.

In fact, PSA currently has 500 round bricks of .22 for 9¢a round.

    • As an add on to what I was saying above, what I took away from this video is not that anyone is trying to gin up mass hysteria/buying frenzy but more stating now ifs a perfect time for people like you and me and plenty of others who have modest means to take advantage of lower prices/more variety to stock up and build a reasonable buffer so that next time there is increased demand you arent crying about how it isnt fair on an internet forum.

    • $1 per round of .22 LR? Where are you? That’s not even CLOSE to what we are paying here.

$0.10-0.12 per shot is doable for the good (match) stuff. Granted, that’s higher than one really wants to pay for .22, but nowhere near a dollar a shot.

  20. What Newtown did was encourage me to budget monthly for my gun hobby. Every month I make a purchase and stash it away.

Slow and steady wins the race.

    • Solid advice.

I do something similar: Budget a small amount per month and if I come across a good deal, I buy. If not, roll it over to next month.
It need not be hundreds of dollars. As little as the cost of a cup of coffee per day can goa long way towards supplies if you’re consistent.

    • Dollar-cost averaging works for anything with a variable price! Not just for retirement planning anymore!! (unless you want to invest in/retire on firearms/ammo).

  21. Now that ammo and mag prices have drifted downward, it’s a good time to stock up. BTW, Bass Pro had 525 .22LR Remington Golden Bullets for $24.95, once brick to a customer.

I’ve got to admit it’s getting better, a little better all the time.

  22. Even .22LR is becoming more available. Over the last couple weeks I’ve stock up some 1800 round of CCI Mini-Mag and Target ammo. Prices aren’t as low as pre-shortage though reasonable, but then the economy is much worse. Regardless, it’s nowhere near the price of the internet gougers.

  23. I concur with the “buy now” sentiment. I haven’t bought anything other than a couple replinish boxes of ammo in the past three years and now is most certainly the time price-wise to had good deals and pricing.

I wouldn’t bank on anything politically…I would only take for certain the current prices.

    • How is stating a fact spreading panic?
Keep waiting for the prices to drop more. If you are right, tell everyone then is the time to buy so someone can call you a panic monger.

  24. Any chance you get to grab ammo…. Take it!!!! Don’t wait for anyone to tell you when is a good time to do something like this! Ammo is steady rising up, and waiting for it to drop will be foolish!!!!

  25. I agree with JY on this one issue. When he rambles on about 1911s being garbage bla bla bla, he is ranting idiot, but on this, I have been buying cheap mags. They are about as cheap as they were before the SH shooting. Just bought some of the cheap Cabela AR mags for 4.99 each shipped. No they may not be the best mags around but for that price I can sell them in the next bubble and put that money into more ammo.

    • He doesn’t ramble on about 1911s being garbage. He proves it. Why don’t you take your 1911 to one of his classes? I bet if it runs properly through the 700 or so rounds, he will make a video of it.
