Charlton Heston First Day Cover Special Offer

On April 11, 2014, the United States Postal Service inducted actor Charlton Heston as the 18th “Legend of Hollywood.” The stamp featured a colorized shot of the actor in his Ben Hur costume. Members of TTAG’s Armed Intelligentsia, however, have an even more iconic image of Mr. Heston, from May 20, 2000 at the NRA’s 129th convention. That’s when the NRA President closed his speech by picking up a replica Kentucky rifle and stating . . .

I want to say those fighting words for everyone within the sound of my voice to hear and to heed, and especially for you, Mr. Gore: From my cold, dead hands!

Bull. They’re all over the place, the problem is we don’t reward them with admiration and respect anymore.

Your wife loved it Gregolas? My wife thinks I waste time on TTAG…here’s another one. “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”…written by the Finger of God.

FWW, when there’s something really good , like your comment, I share it with her. She’s seen enough good articles on here through me that she doesn’t feel I’m wasting my time.

I am going back about 35 years, when over a period of less than 1 year, I was blessed to meet Mr. Heston twice. The last time, in the waiting room of Cedars-Sinai, Los Angeles. He and I were there for the same disease, but different children–Cystic Fibrosis. He was truly a caring man, who especially was touched by the plight of children. We talked at length about a time at which there would be lung transplants possible for children whose lungs had given out under this insidious disease. That is regularly done today at Cedars for CF patients in the final stage of the disease. Many children now live many more years because of his private assistance and support.

    1. avatar Rokurota says:

Little known fact: Heston marched with King. Moral conservative across the board. If I weren’t on my phone, I’d link to lefty Richard Dreyfus’s op-ed in praise of Charlton.

    2. avatar Tominator says:

I envy you! Heston was a Patriot in every sense……as was Dr. King!

  7. avatar Ralph says:

    Envelopes . . . bear an April, 11 2018 postmark

Those must be the Michael J. Fox first day covers. Back to the future, yo!
