30 Cal Gal Anette Wachter on Accurate Fire

The NRA’s out with their latest Tips and Tactics series vid and this time they’ve enlisted a new shooter. The 30 Cal Gal herself, Anette Wachter covers breath control, loading your trigger, all after achieving a comfortable wobble zone. Which we sincerely wish we knew how to do, if for no other reason than practicing it sounds like so much fun.

    Three of my favorite subjects in one: women, .30 cal weapons and the virtues of round placement. As I used to tell the troops, it may be fun to go full auto with an M16, but I’d really prefer we end the firefight before it starts with an M14.

    Holy shit, I thought that woman looked familiar. She works, or used to work at the range I go to. I haven’t seen her in some time, so I guess she has moved onto bigger things. Good for her.

      Natural point of aim (aka “NPA”) is a big, big deal.

      When you’re having to expend energy contorting your body into position, you can’t hold it forever.

      When i’m slinged into a rifle in my shooting coat, I can close my eyes, relax my body, breath normally (or as normally as I want, open my eyes and see the rifle is still on target. That’s what makes it easy to make hits in the prone position.

      In the other positions, it isn’t quite so easy, but you still should work on your NPA.

      When you do it enough, you’ll have a pretty good idea how to position your body to achieve your NPA, get it close quickly and then make adjustments as necessary.
