Wow … so much for rational discourse.

Not that that would have worked either.

    1. avatar Andrew says:

      Everyone,

      You misunderstood:

Mr. Emanuel is LITERALLY saying stand together. The bullets can only go through so many people.

      1. avatar Chas says:

What he also didn’t say is that they should form a human shield around him.

  2. avatar the ruester says:

“On april 15 my son became a sacrifice for this city that is heartless.”

The mother of a 16 yr old football player at the conference was spot on, if she was actually referring to the weasels standing next to her.

    1. I think the discourse is pretty much like a comedy skit where politicians and other liars/dupes and stupid people get together and say, “We need to get rid of the guns to make people safe!” but, the rest of the population that can think for themselves knows that the more we disarm people, the more violent crime and murder will occur.

The dishonest have always profited from other people’s misery while putting on the “I’m here to help!” costume when, in reality, they are really in there to “help themselves”. More misery is more opportunity. I think in the long run, this is what these people desire. More misery and more crime equals more opportunity for these crooks. …and a compliant population is always better for them. The gun variable is only a variable in a business formula. If you thought these dishonest bastards ever cared even a little about you above their power and their money, you are naive. From the president down to many (if not most) local cops.

Rham Imannuel, WAFJ!!! Anyone that would believe a word from his mouth has to be mentally defective.

  3. avatar jirdesteva says:

This is what passes for leadership? Let his @$$ walk the same streets unarmed like the rest of the citizens of CHIRAQ for a week and see what the gangs do!

  4. avatar Mack Bolan says:

Yes together you are bigger…..from a target perspective.

  5. avatar Reed says:

Isn’t it illegal already to brandish firearms in Chicago already? What fears could he possibly have? Saying something is unlawful makes it stop happening, right?

  6. avatar fuque says:

Who was it that said one man with a gun can control 100 unarmed men?.. I guess standing together Just makes it easier to do the head count… or body count depending on your intentions.

  7. avatar Alan Longnecker says:

Unarmed (potential) victims bunched together, what could possibly go wrong.

  8. avatar tdiinva says:

The solution to the problem of gang violence in Chicago and other similar environment is the same one that GEN Petraeus used in Anbar Province. Enlist the support of an armed population to isolate and defeat the armed criminals. In this case guns and violence wielded by the law abiding population is the way to defeat the gangs. I note that the Chief of Police in Detroit has figured this out and as a result several gangstas have assumed room temperature. It can’t be done overnight but it can be done if you put your mind to it. When gangbangers realize that they are more likely to die than their former victims they will change their behavior.

    1. avatar Jus Bill says:

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if significant numbers of Detroit “gangstas” are getting on the bus for CHIRAQ.

  9. avatar James says:

“Me fail English. That umpossible” I had no idea Ralph Wiggum ran Chicago.

    1. avatar DisThunder says:

That was the first thing that came to mind when I read this.

  10. avatar KingSarc48265 says:

So… Is this phase one of operation human shield then Rahm?

    1. avatar Adub says:

And that sounds like a reference to the South Park movie; the second step is always Operation Get Behind the Darkies. 😉

  11. avatar Rokurota says:

“A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man”

  12. avatar former water walker says:

Hey he’s exited. Rahm got diction & speech lessons from Garry McCarthy LOL. Seriously folks I avoid large swathes of the city in my local business. Arming the law abiding is a great first step. They’re STILL voting dumbocrat.

    1. avatar great unknown says:

Nobody knows how they’re voting. As the original Mayor Daley said, “It ain’t how the votes go in that counts, it’s how they come out.”

  13. avatar Peter says:

Take it easy on the guy. He majored in ballet back in college. (true story)

    1. avatar Soccerchainsaw says:

Hey, ballet is tough. Especially in Russia.

  14. avatar Alex Peters says:

I just got back from a business trip in Chicago. First thing I realized is how delusional the city’s residents are. The are “no guns allowed” stickers on many businesses (more than I’ve ever seen in any city), as if those do anything at all. Further, people in the downtown area have blinders on. Cops were hardly present, yet people go about acting as if the violent South Side is across the country. I was up early one day (around 5:00 am) and walked to the local coffee shop. I saw several women jogging by themselves. One almost bumped into me as she emerged from a dark alley (it was dark out at the time). She couldn’t have been more than 100 lbs. and was utterly defenseless (as was I BTW). Watching the local news there was even more depressing. A 16 year-old was killed in a drive-by shooting and that was the fifth story on the 10:00 news. This would be the lead story in most parts of the country. Another story was about a man who won a hefty sum of money at the local casino, was followed home to his wealthy suburb, and was robbed and shot inside his home. Chicago is great city and I enjoyed my time there. However, I feel that years of local government neglect and failures to address the real issues will cause it to rot from within.

  15. avatar Mediocrates says:

only if you hold up a sign.

  16. avatar former water walker says:

How WRONG you are Great Unknown. The Republican party is dead in Cook County,Illinois. I’m trying to move to Indiana (a mile away).

  17. avatar cubby123 says:

We sing Kumbya and chant and they magically disapear.

  18. avatar Taco Picasso says:

I’m with Rahm (not), if enough unarmed good guys stand up to armed bad guys, eventually the bad guys will run out of ammo.

  19. avatar bob says:

    Idiocracy today.

  20. avatar Pascal says:

    From the link:

“I am done making these phone calls. I have no words to say anymore,” he said before a slew of TV cameras, including one from CNN.

“Yes it’s going to get warm, but values are not about seasons,” Emanuel said, addressing the rash of violence that has accompanied warmer weather. “They don’t come only in the summer. The values that we teach our children when we hold them and read to them are timeless. They’re about right and wrong. They’re about knowing good from bad. They serve as your compass as your guide.”

It all sounds good in front of cameras. As a politician he is doing what politicians do….using consoling words as make believe that something will be done…because they have no real solution all they have are words to give.

If people learned to defend themselves, empty words would not be needed.

    1. Ugh! I think I threw up a little when I read your quoted text.

Just makes me absolutely f’ing furious when I read stuff like this coming from asshats like him. WAFJ joke he is!

  21. avatar Jake Tallman says:

Yeah, because everyone knows that evil people can be turned good if everyone stands around and sings kumbaya. The power of positive thoughts can change even the most monstrous person!

  22. avatar Colt Magnum says:

Hope they don’t forget to wear hardhats. Just in case their top cop decides to shoot out some more street lamps.

  23. avatar Aaron says:

“Yes it’s going to get warm, but values are not about seasons,” Emanuel said, addressing the rash of violence that has accompanied warmer weather. “They don’t come only in the summer. The values that we teach our children when we hold them and read to them are timeless. They’re about right and wrong. They’re about knowing good from bad. They serve as your compass as your guide.”

    — This is very true. Parents do need to spend quality time teaching their children good values ie “don’t have kids of your own until you are an adult, completed your education, have a solid income, and are preferably married”. Parents should not rely upon TV, pop-culture, peers, and the public/government school system for teaching their kids about the most important things in life.

    1. avatar Taco Picasso says:

That will only work if the parents first have values.

      1. avatar Jus Bill says:

And what parent exactly will be holding a 19 year old gang-banger and read to them? And read from what – their last warrant?

  24. avatar WI Patriot says:

Bring your “US”, we’ll bring our guns…

  25. avatar T says:

Missing the mark on how to fight crime
    Missing the mark on education
Missing the mark on the economy
and now Missing the mark on how law abinding citizens conceal carry

To say Rahm’s adminstration has been a failure would be putting it lightly.

  26. avatar RockOnHellChild says:

I submit if the guy in the car begins shooting the gun into the crowd that the group will quickly disperse and not be so big.

    Guns are funny like that.

  27. avatar nick says:

If you remove the horns and hooves from the female wildebeest, what makes you think that from then on the lion will only hunt the foal of the zebra?

Of course, I’m preaching to the choir.

  28. avatar Ted says:

That’s great! So when can we expect the good people of Chicago to drive out the gang-bangers, thugs, and drug dealers?

Oh, that’s right – they can’t – because the good people are unarmed and the bad guys have all the guns.

    1. avatar Delmarva Chip says:

      Indeed.

Perhaps if the mayor didn’t enable the gang-bangers by fighting every effort made that restores the right of ordinary citizens to defend themselves, the gang-bangers wouldn’t have so much power on the streets.

      1. avatar Jus Bill says:

But if the good mayor didn’t have the gang bangers he would never be reelected.

  29. avatar TexanHawk says:

Here Mr. Emanuel, I fixed it for ‘ya.

Us together We the people are bigger than anybody else driving around in a car waving a gun. who swore an oath to the Consitution yet daily ignore that oath. They aren’t big.” – Mayor Rahm Emanuel TEXANHAWK

  30. avatar Bill says:

Explain to me how people like this get put into positions of such influence

    1. avatar Jus Bill says:

By kissing the azz of people with even more influence. I’m looking at YOU, White House.

  31. avatar former water walker says:

BTW 8 people SHOT last night in Chicago. And it was a chilly night.

  32. avatar Hannibal says:

Let’s see Rahm walk around the seedier parts of the city without his bodyguards.

Let’s see him release the multiple additional police officers stationed in cars around his block all night to do real work instead of babysitting his property.

  33. avatar joe says:

If i didn’t know that ‘tiny dancer’ Emanuel doesn’t see a lick of difference between a gun owner and a gang banger, I’d actually agree with much that he is saying. There is a huge problem with morality within the poor Black and Hispanic communities in Chicago. It’s not PC nor nice to say but it’s true. A lot of these kids would rob you or kill you, for your phone or your shoes or jacket just as soon as look at you. Murders happen happen here nearly every day over silly things like an argument on Facebook. Folks like father pfleger, misguided as he is, understands that he does not have an audience if he asks these folks to look within themselves for the problem so he projects those problems into a faceless enemy, “the gun”. No your little gang banging POS 14 year old didn’t commit murder… ‘he’s a good kid, turning his life around, aspiring rapper….’ no it was “the gun” that corrupted him like the weapon has some mystical Tolkienesque quality. But who cares, as long as Emanuel can keep the welfare cash flowing, people will continue to pull that Democrat lever like Pavlov’s dogs.

  34. avatar Yellow Devil says:

…What? Never mind, the Chicago masses would still vote for him.

  35. avatar Gw says:

    Re: tdiinva says:

For any who may not have initially recognized the significance of tdiinva’s post — you may want to read it again as an excellent representation of a basic Problem Solving Formula:
Identify the problem. Decide what to do. Formulate a plan. Predict the outcome. Execute the plan. Evaluate the results.

  36. avatar Ralph says:

What is it with tiny politicians like Emanuel and Bloomberg and their fixation on size?

  37. avatar Brett says:

    It’s a perfectly cromulent sentence.

  38. avatar Doug says:

One would hope that the Police Chief in Detroit would call this dumba99 and tell him he is bassackwards in his thinking.

  39. avatar maltwit says:

“Us together are bigger than anybody else driving around in a car waving a gun. They aren’t big.” – Rahm Emanuel

“Words mean just what I wish them to mean; neither more nor less” – Humpty Dumpty

  40. avatar Yossarian says:

“Bigger than anybody else driving around in a car waving a gun”

Would indicate that Obama’s boyfriend (Emanuel) drives around waving a gun?

  41. avatar Jay in Florida says:

What a buffoon, and Chicago you can keep it.

  42. avatar Patrick Hayes says:

Chicago was a gift for Herr Rham from Papa Obama……
Rham brought in the worlds worst Liberal ass kisser police chief….
The Alderman are all in it to make money……
Half the damn city are 4th generation welfare leeches who raise thug gangbanger kids and then cry when other thugs kill them.
Of course they are the same racists who voted for Obama and got an ObamaPhone…..and 19% unemployment.
They follow the leader like sheep to the slaughter……..Being used and not smart enough to know it.

    Rant over……

  43. avatar William Burke says:

    Tiny Dancer!

  44. avatar Mike-Illinois says:
