Is it me or has Kyle slipped out of ironic self-parody into something roughly akin to real gun reviews? Gunblast without the beard, with a slow motion camera and some cheap targets. I thought the whole point of the FPS schtick was that the faux Russian wasn’t your average YouTube gun guy. That he was “reviewing” guns purely in terms of their ability to create ballistic mayhem. The destruction and explosions were the point of the exercise – not whether or not the guns were well-made or reliable. In Russia well-made gun shoots you. Like that. The fact that Kyle pulls a Wizard of Oz on the burning car in the background tells me he’s lost his lust for life. Hey FPS. Screw Twitter. Hit me up at guntruth@me.com to produce your Elvis Comeback Special. I love you, bro.

  1. Maybe the visit from BATFE about exploding targets and the (still unsolved) murder of his associate dampened his antics. That’d do it for me, too.

    • He doesn’t have an Explosives License, which is why he’s not using them anymore. While Tannerite is legal, using it for business (YouTube Video Monetization) isn’t without a license, which is what he got nailed on.

I’m guessing due to his extremely unsafe antics before his hiatus, he won’t be getting one anytime soon.

  2. I think he’s still playing catchup. he promised gun reviews prior to resuming the mayhem, and then had camera crew problems. give him a bit.

  3. There wasn’t much gun review from a technical point of view. He’s even having trouble doing the fake accent well. I don’t understand what people liked about the old FPS. I really don’t understand what’s to like with the current version.

  4. I watched his videos because they were fun. Sometimes you learned something; but I am under 30 and the prospect of shooting “Zombie Beeches” or “Zombie Terrorist Dudes” still makes me laugh a little bit.

This more serious review style…I dunno; you have a million people doing those. Hicock45, Armory Channel, TNP , MAC to name a few.

Where else can I go to watch this guy take a tank through a McDonalds drive through?

    • John S.: I do get this, and blame no one for enjoying it. Don’t mind my jadedness. I still enjoy the Palmetto guys doing their spoofs, so I do have a fun side. I’ve just become jaded with the “cool” aspect of blowing stuff up. Age, probably.

I wonder, and invite critiques: Do recent veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan still enjoy things blowing up, the sort of “watch this guys, I’m going full auto, shooting up tv’s” stuff? Do they care about alternate “out there” theories of how things happened in the past, when the reality of ever-present battlefields and dictatorships is so real? I’m focused this month on “people are no damned good.” Who cares about aliens. Laugh.

      Curious.

  5. “Wizard of Oz…” Cute.

Always have liked the uncompromising functionality of H&K; ’bout as much pizzaz as a Czechoslovak army truck, but they do work.

  6. I saw a Century Arms clone at Cabelas a few weeks ago. It looked like a nice rifle condition and build wise. Who knows how it functioned?

    • Well. Youll probably want to polish the feed ramps. My experience is that century clones rarely have that done right from the factory

  7. He’s wearing earpro now, which was pretty much the biggest complaint people had about him before. So what’s the problem? Did I stumble into some weird alternate universe where a guy doing gun videos on youtube is automatically a bad thing?

  8. I still enjoy it… so he mentioned the next video is going to feature a giant wall of ice being destroyed by a belt-fed MG?

Hate him all ya want, but personally, I wouldn’t mind the chance for some full-auto fun… as long as someone else is footing the ammo bill. 😉

  9. Well, I enjoyed it and I’m not going to diss on the guy for shooting stuff and recording it in slow motion. Better this than another stupid rant from James “I’m going to start shooting people” Yeager.

  10. I didn’t see any backstops behind those water bottles. Hopefully all those bullets were stopped by those trees and there were no houses back there.

  11. The reason I like it is that he gets to shoot nice weapons that I do not easily have access to. Targets, TVs, Soda bottles it doesn’t matter as it is always fun to watch a firearm in capable hands work its magic.

    • Exactly. He’s YouTube entertainment. And it’s good (and, hey, free for us) light amusement. I enjoy the guy. It does seem that he’s a lot more subdued these days, though.

I also think there are a lot of jealous folks out there (*cough* certain TTAGers *cough*) because FPS seems to have an endless supply of full-autos, ammo, suppressors, and fun.

  12. I feel sorry for Kyle.He used to have the most fun job in the world. After all that has happened not so much anymore. Good luck to him anyways.

  13. Dylan was booed when he plugged in an electric guitar.

People evolve man, don’t deny him the chance to try new ways…
