Quote of the Day: Moms Demand Action: The Fat Lady Will Never Sing

Shannon Watts (courtesy gannet.com)

“I don’t know why everyone says this issue is over. It’s not over until we say it’s over.” – Shannon Watts, Founder, Moms Demand Action on Gun Sense in America (formerly One Million Moms for Gun Control), quoted in Enough Already With the Fatalism on Gun Control [via newrepublic.com]

  1. avatar 1911A1 says:

Shannon Watts is obviously either deranged, or the reincarnation of Bluto Blutarsky. Possibly both.

    1. avatar Hal says:

Not even close to 1 million vapid pawns for facism.

    2. avatar OldBenTurninginGrave says:

As long as she gets that fat salary from Bloomy with all kinds of paid travel, and doesn’t have to work a real job, she will bravely continue the fight.

  2. avatar Scott S. says:

I’ve seen pictures of MDA rallies. The title should say “The Many Fat Ladies…”

    1. avatar Blehtastic says:

Chris Costa’s new career should be walking around shirtless at MDA rallies.

    2. avatar Mistereveready says:

A thick woman can be a fine and wondrous thing, but one with a defective brain has wasted her lot in life.

  3. avatar J Nelson says:

There will always be ‘well meaning’ idiots just as their will always be tyrants masquerading as progressive liberals. This is why there must always be people like us that will never quit fighting them. Be it at the ballot box or the with the ammo box.

  4. avatar Sixpack70 says:

I hope her five children grow up to be responsible gun owners with a strong respect for the constitution.

    1. avatar Jus Bill says:

If there is justice in the universe they’ll grow up to be gangbangers.

      1. avatar Dirk Diggler says:

Pyschotic gangbangers. In chicago. Or new york.

      2. avatar Angry AZ says:

Unfortunately they will probably have the opportunity to vote before removing themselves from the Gene Pool

      3. avatar thatoneguy says:

Like most kids growing up with a parent like that, they’ll most likely wind up working a menial job to support the coke habit they develop at around 15.

  5. avatar NS says:

what the hell does demanding “action on gun sense in America” even mean? It’s not even a coherent name

    1. avatar MurrDog says:

It doesn’t have to be, it’s FOR THE CHILDREN.

  6. avatar Jim R says:

    She’s right, you know.

Her and her kind will never give up. They’ll stop at nothing to get what they want and use every dirty trick in the book to do it. So long as they believe it’s for the greater good, and that the end justifies the means, they’ll continue.

  7. avatar WildWest says:

“Was it over when the Germans bombed Perl Harbor!”

    1. avatar HBA101 says:

      Eeeeh….huh?

      1. avatar Jim R says:

        Forget it, he’s rolling.

        1. avatar A-Rod says:

You guys must not have seen Animal House.

    2. avatar rt-texas says:

This old guy gets it. Funny, love it.

  8. avatar Tommy Knocker says:

Psychopath bitch. Straight out of Play Misty For Me.

  9. avatar James says:

Totalitarians never stop. Since Ms. Watts cannot stand that someone, somewhere may engage in an activity or hold a belief that she does not approve, her totalitarian nature will continue to harass, complain, nag, and ultimately coerce those to obeying her whims.

  10. avatar pk in AZ says:

Why give this asshat time, print or otherwise?

    1. avatar Mark N. says:

      Know thine enemy.

    2. avatar William Burke says:

I’ve seen her smug face here twice. That’s two times too many.

  11. avatar Jus Bill says:

It won’t be over for her until the cash stops flowing in. Then she’ll move on to found a new scam. It never ends with these people; it’s a business.

She should take her show to Mexico or Syria. Or pretty much anywhere in the Middle East. They need her organization’s services badly there.

  12. avatar Hidden Hills says:

Another name to drop into obscurity. What was the name of the lady that incessantly moaned and bloody-shirt waved about Bush & Iraq? I can’t remember. World moved on and left her in oblivion as well.

Ms. Watts will soon go insane in the echoes of her mind.

    1. avatar Sixpack70 says:

I think she went away after Obama took office. Her time as a useful idiot was over.

    2. avatar Dirk Diggler says:

Cindy Sheehan. At least her son died overseas and she had a right to complain. Plus she was not on the public tit

      1. avatar Scott says:

Cindy Sheehan is from the town I live. She is the biggest pain in the ass to ever exist. She was supposed to be riding across the US this Summer on a bicycle. She had won a free tune up service from a local bike shop, and brought her POS Walmart bike in for the shop owner to tune up in preparation for her ride. She was demanding, bitchy, and rude.
She has been disowned by most of her friends and family, including her husband. Certifiable loon she is.

    3. avatar BobH says:

Yep, after Cindy Sheehan was no longer useful to the Democrat Party, they dropped her. This is what the Democrat Party has always done with their useful idiots. Eventually, the democrats will jump to another politically charged issue, and they will drop this Watts lady. Heck, if the Colorado recalls are a vision of what will happen in the 2014 elections, the democrats may destroy Watts just to silence her.

      1. avatar William Burke says:

They will NEVER “move on” from disarmament. NEVER. Not until they get everything they want, and a lot more.

      2. avatar Robert says:

She is not an idiot, you lowlife cretin; but she was dropped by the Democratic wing of the war party; she was a pain in the ass to Shrub Bush though.

    4. avatar Robert says:

The world moved on? You are a moron; yea the BLOODY SHIRT OF HE SON KILLED IN BUSH’S DAMNED WAR IN IRAQ. Were you born an asshole or did you have to work at it?

  13. avatar Jay in Florida says:

    I say its over!!!!!!!!!!
Enough of these sniveling moms demand anything.
You are entitled to demand nothing from or of me…………..
    So there ……………P

  14. avatar Gregg says:

She means it’s not over until her bank account is full

  15. avatar Elysium says:

    Send her to Chiraq.

    1. avatar Accur81 says:

Send her to Englewood at night over the weekend. Perhaps she could reform some gang bangers if she can be heard over the gunfire.

  16. avatar Blue says:

PITB. How about that “for action.”

  17. avatar A-Rod says:

I just hope this MDA group does not get as much traction as the Women’s Christian Temperance Union did and we get a new Volstead Act. MDA would call it the T. Martin Act, Newtown Act or Save Chicago Act. Regardless, the MDA needs to focus on the War on Drugs, poverty, and a list of other factors that cause gun violence.

    1. avatar Cliff H says:

This might be good advice IF their aim was actually to stop gun violence. Since their goal is not to stop the violence, but to take away the guns, directing their efforts at the causes of violence rather than at taking away guns would be counterproductive.

She is a useful idiot of the progressives and their goal is civilian disarmament so that they can consolidate their political power. They have no interest in and their policies will never result in the end of gun violence because if they have their way it will always result in the government using guns against the citizens.

      1. avatar Blue says:

It appears she and her group are targeting “open carry” in their crusade first and you can bet if they were ever to get that outlawed, banned etc., the ccw license holders would be next. It is straight out of the old HCI (Hand Gun Control Inc) playbook.

  18. avatar Troutbum5 says:

The fat ladies sing every time they open their mouths.

  19. avatar Buhrhine says:

That’s just arrogance. Plain and simple. Ego, arrogance, and ignorance are a very dangerous combination.

    1. avatar Jus Bill says:

But combined with a willing media, very loud.

  20. avatar Dave357 says:

One thing about MDA is that they are not even pretending to be merely for gun control. Their agenda, as I recall seeing it once, includes rolling back carrying laws and reinterpreting the 2nd Amendment. They think big, perhaps bigger than some more established gun-control organizations, and, just in case, they should not be underestimated.

  21. avatar uncommon_sense says:

Moms Demand Action on Gun Sense in America … formerly One Million Moms for Gun Control

That says it all. Why the need to change their organization’s name?

Answer: they do not have one million moms in their ranks
Answer: the “gun control” part of their name is driving people away

    ’nuff said.

  22. avatar jwm says:

It’s a constant fight. For me it started in 68. No doubt it started earlier for others. Check back in a hundred years. No doubt the fight will keep going.

This is one of the benefits of a free society. We have to put up with people like her and alex jones and piers morgan.

But in return you get to listen to people like me, Tom in Oregon, Alpha Geek and Ralph and Matt in Fla. So it’s worth it.

  23. avatar ChuckN says:

I wish Ms. Watts and the MDA would bring that level of passion and
stubbornness to reforming public schools and bringing them up to
par. Wait, scratch that. Considering the MDA’s complete inability
to educate themselves, let alone use logic and reason, they
    shouldn’t be anywhere near kids.

    1. avatar Jay1987 says:

Bet their hubbies wish they would bring that level of passion and energy into the bedroom instead of muttering about being tired and having a headache

  24. avatar DerryM says:

Never dismiss an avowed enemy, particularly one with such a Draconian long-term agenda as MDA has. They are never sufficiently weak until they are dissolved. MDA still can get MSM attention and reportage while pro-Second Amendment groups get virtually nothing except negative attention and vilification.

    1. avatar Larry says:

I completely agree. This organization is dangerous. They have my attention for sure.

  25. avatar Peter says:

    Can you say “Bunker mentality”?

  26. avatar dwb says:

Nothing says “Nanny State” than a bunch of Mom’s Demanding Action. Maybe its time to go on the offensive and press the advantage against their nanny-state agenda.

    1. avatar Blue says:

Why couldn’t we get MILF’s Demand Action.

      1. avatar Angry AZ says:

Thats what I thought until I saw pics of the rally….. more like COWS on parade… took me 2 hours in the back alleys of the internet to remove that mind burning image of them all crowded around the photographers like heifers at feeding time…..

        1. avatar Jay1987 says:

I feel your pain Angry fortunately there’s an app for that and many websites devoted to helpin with your problem

  27. avatar Mediocrates says:

I’m right there with the head Witch for Mom’s Demand Attention. It’s never going to be over.

  28. avatar cubby123 says:

Starbuks Needs to issue the’NO BABIES ALOWED ‘memo,we won’t BAN them we just don’t want you to bring them in. Then, they can post it on the door and it will be official!
