“I’ve debated a lot of gun-control advocates over the years, and I’ve never met someone who has been willing to put up a sign in front of their house indicating that their home is a gun-free zone.” – John Lott in Gun Safety App Draws Fire [at yahoo.com]

  1. And there you have it.

Then again, if someone ever did, it might work like reverse psychology. A predatory puke hell-bent on invading the home might think “it’s a trap”. Best go a few houses down the block, just to be safe.

Which only further supports the irrationality of the concept of a gun-free zone.

    • In todays anti gun environement it would be the luck of the homeowner that they would get arrested for doing it in a state where signs carry the weight of the law. I have to admit that it would be slightly funny.

    ^ nailed it.

    and…

And Stalbaum claims those who take issue with the app are shooting blanks. “As a gun owner myself, I want to see our rights preserved, and thwarting the will of 90 percent of the American people who want common sense, constitutional measures to improve gun safety is mathematically unwise,” he told Fox News.

I love when that bullshit line gets used… “as a gun owner myself”…

    • …as a gun owner myself, I want to be left alone and enjoy my property which I worked hard to be able to purchase. Oh, and I also want some ammo.

      • The challenge is that with this current Bolshevik and chief Obama, there is a believe that you didn’t work hard to buy your property, the “group” did, so why be afraid of said group invading and taking what is “theirs”? We are in dangerous times and only need to look at the rise of Bolshevism in Russia to see the the net effect. Gun rights are one of the few things preventing the New Bolsheviks from overtaking the once great America.

Oh, and forget the ammo. Once Uncle Janet reprograms the CA universities, she’ll become Lord of Education and banish all teaching of firearms and ammo.

        • She may be stepping down, but the song remains the same. She will NOT be replaced with someone sympathetic to the pro-2A side by the current administration, thus all that can be expected is another parrot for the Obama/Biden stance on firearms. A change of personnel is not a change of ideology.

        • This has nothing to do with Bolshevism or Communism, or anything besides FASCISM.

The Criminal International Bankster Cartel O. works for – he’s all in, Y’UNNERSTAND? He may THINK he’s bringing communism, but THEY KNOW BETTER. He was brought up Marxist – BUT THE GUYS HE WORKS FOR ARE FASCISTS.

FASCISM. FASCISM. Look up Mussolini’s definition: “the union of government and corporations”.

          Jeez, you guys are suckers!

    • Unfortunately, the actual bullshit comment that keeps popping up is …”constitutional measures…”

The Second Amendment says specifically, “…shall not be infringed.” This means that the federal government may not make any law or regulation in any way inhibiting our natural right to keep and bear arms. There is NO constitutional way to get around this. In my opinion even a new amendment to the consitution repealing or changing the 2nd Amendment would be prima facie unconstitutional. This is where we need to stay focused!

    • “…I also hunt and own a shotgun…”

as if that somehow relates IN ANY WAY to the discussion at hand, cupcake: the 2nd amendment (which has nothing to do with hunting).

      • “and thwarting the will of 90 percent of the American people who want common sense, constitutional measures to improve gun safety is mathematically unwise,”

Pew found that about 99% of those “gun safety” advocates think gun violence and gun murder have gone up when they have plummeted.

Also a similar majority of Americans favored the sedition act eliminating free speech to argue against the draft.

  3. “… As a gun owner myself…”

Its the equivalent of someone who tells an extremely racist joke, then says “I’m not racist; some of my best friends are black!”

  4. Can someone get Mr. Stalbaum’s address and post it on a listing of “good places for a home invasion because the owner believes in ‘common-sense gun controls'”?

    • Since that newspaper posted the addresses of gun owners and got shot down, maybe someone could suggest a work-around for them – simply post all the addresses where people don’t have guns. Then everyone would know who the gun-owners are and they didn’t have to break the rules by listing them directly. /s

  5. Mans got a great point, no criminal with a sliver of intelligence would break into the house with a “We don’t call 911” sign, as compared to a “We hate guns!” sign.
That’s why schools get attacked but police stations are perfectly fine.

  6. As a poster on the original article notes, the information isn’t verified. Anyone can tag any address as having a gun. Looks like there will be people that mark every home in an area as having a gun.

Gotta love that crowd sourced data.

    • There is someone on a gun forum I am part of that did just that. He got on his mountain bike, and marked every single house on the route he rides on both sides of the street and plans to do more.

Crowd sourcing at the end of the day is crap because of obvious bias.

We know that the Yelp reviews are crap, and you can read the stories. Many crowd sourced reviewed sites are a crock.

IMHO, every gun owner who can should download the app and just spam the app. When there is enough bogus data in the app that the app can no longer be relied upon, it will die the death it should. This is the perfect example of civil disobedience to the anti-gun crowd.

      • Not for nothin’, but I’m calling BS on that guy, if for no other reason than the app limits you to one report per day.

  7. If the anti-rights crowd have no personal courage or conviction.
If they did, they’d be leading by example instead of pushing
lawmakers to relieve them (and everyone else) of responsibility.
