If you knew what it was like to trudge through the jungles of southeast Asia lugging a big, heavy bolt action gun and want to relive that, Redfield is here to help. They’ve just announced a limited run of 1000 3-9x40mm M40-style riflescopes in classic OD green that will look perfect on your vintage weapon of war and will be just the thing when you want to reach out and touch something. SWFA’s selling them for $499 . . .

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Redfield® is offering a limited run of 1,000 U.S. Marine Corps M40 edition riflescopes through SWFA Outdoors. These OD green, 3-9x40mm riflescopes feature a Mil Dot reticle, a tactile post on the power selector, and have an appearance that is more authentic to the original USMC M40 riflescopes used in the Vietnam War.

Built in Oregon, these M40 riflescopes feature a multi-coated illuminator lens system, ¼-MOA adjustments and Redfield’s exclusive Rapid Target Acquisition® eyepiece. This limited run honors the Redfield Accurange scope mounted on Vietnam era M40 sniper rifles. Rifle shooters building a replica M40 can now mount an appropriate scope for the time.

All Redfield riflescopes are covered by the Redfield “No Excuses” warranty.

    • No. A mil is a measure of angle. With fairly simple math you use the angle measurements and your scope’s magnification power to estimate range and bullet drop (and lead and windage).
You do have to redo the calculations (or field testing) for each load.

  1. Rebel! Renegade! Revenge! Counterstrike! Battlezone! And my personal favorite, Rampage!

Can their marketing get any more turgid? Oh, I know. How about Blood in the Streets! Room to Room Combat! Brain Matter and Intestines! Or maybe Blown All to Sh1t! Yeah, that’s more like it.

I like Redfield, but since nobody uses any of their products to play CoD, maybe they should try some grown-up names.

  2. I had a good experience with SWFA purchasing an Aimpoint CompM4 and 3x magnifier plus acc’s. Great product, very fair pricing, fast reliable customer service, quick shipping. Can’t go wrong.

    • Retro never comes cheap. They know ‘Nam vets are all in it for nostalgia and will pay for the memories too.
