From the New York Rifle & Pistol Association (NYSRPA) website:

NYSRPA, in co-operation with the NRA, are having the Cuomo law reviewed by a highly qualified legal team. We ask that no other 3rd party legal action be taken without prior consultation. We realize that this law impacts a large number of people, but a proper legal review will take some time. NYSRPA/NRA will be filing a Notice of Claim prior to submitting a brief on the merits of the constitutionality of the new gun law. Involved in the lawsuit will be two of the nations best 2nd Amendment attorneys. This is a very important proceeding and must be handled properly with the best lawyers. We will not win without support from gun owners. You can help either by joining/renewing your membership or making a[n] online donation.

    • If there’s to be a battleground state, I think that NY is the worst possible choice. The federal district and 2nd Circuit courts are dominated by “progressive” judges, the state courts are completely politicized, and “conservative” politicians are slightly left of Joe Stalin.

I would rather just see NY go f^ck itself. Figuratively speaking, of course.

      • Good point Ralph. What about the SCOTUS? With everything that has happened in Illinois recently, there has to be some hope in New York? Sure, the politicians wont change their minds and embrace guns. I am going to try to be optimistic on this and hope that New York will be a great battleground. Not saying your being pessimistic, Id say realistic if anything. If New York can be told to FOAD and that they have to change their laws, then I would say we have some strong ground in this fight.

        • If the NRA is going to bring a case in NY, then they must be planning to take it all the way to SCOTUS. Which assumes that the pro-2A Justices will still be alive and pro-2A when the case gets there in eight years. That assumption is flawed.

The Second Circuit is more anti-gun than the Nutty 9th. Let’s not forget that the 9th was the first circuit court to decide that 2A was incorporated and applies to the states; the Second and Seventh held otherwise.

      • So, I guess we can only hope that no one on SCOTUS dies while Obama is in office? And hope someone equal or worse dosnt become POTUS in four years.

        • Worse? I suppose it’s theoretically possible, like absolute zero….but practically I don’t think so.

        • Erik, for the next four yeard Biden is in line. Id say it can get worse. Obama may be running us in to the ground but he isnt kicking and screaming like a child.

  1. Not a member do not live in NY but $100 donation on the way. I figure there is no ammo or AR’s to buy anyway might as donate for the fight because CT will be next.

  2. Good news everyone,
Earlier today, at Pres Obama’s official swearing in oath (public tommorow) I saw and heard him swear to uphold the constitution. there was the tv audience as witness.
So what are we worrying about?

    • Did he say it with a straight face? I’ll bet he swore the oath indoors to lessen the chance of a lighting strike.

      • Obvious you know very little about the Koran (Qur’an).

First, it is not like a bible to Muslims. Qur’an is not the foundation of Islam, rather Islam is founded on the Qur’an, Hadith and Sira.

Next, Jesus is a major prophet in the Koran. In fact he is mentioned 25 times, while Mohammed is only mentioned 4 times. Like all prophets in Islam, Jesus is considered to have been a Muslim (i.e., one who submits to the will of God).

Numerous titles are given to Jesus in the Quran and in Islamic literature, the most common being al-Masīḥ (“the messiah”). Jesus is also, at times, called “Seal of the Israelite Prophets”, because, in general Muslim belief, Jesus was the last prophet sent by God to guide the Children of Israel. Jesus is seen in Islam as a precursor to Muhammad, and is believed by Muslims to have foretold the latter’s coming.

Keep in mind, both Christians and Muslims are from the same root stock. Their Allah is in fact our God. We are both descended from Abraham.

So, do your homework. Your sarcasm toward a holy work of literature, that millions, like Christians, the Jewish faith and our bible, respect.

A little respect and knowledge goes a long way.

  3. Ralph, my guess is you don’t live in one of the states in the danger zone, but right now I’ll take any news of this going to court. The faster this takes its course the sooner we can plan our next move. My big concern are for those who work for the companies that will be affected. Remmington, Colt, Mossberg, Ruger, and many more are going to consider packing their bags for greener pastures, and the only thing worse than losing your rights is losing your rights and your job.

    • I have more concern for the 2nd amendment and the damage done to it, than I do for anyone in NY. I would love to see the weapons manufacturers move out of NY to a pro gun, right to work state. Who says the current employees can’t move with them?

      • “Who says the current employees can’t move with them?”

Even if the company can afford to, it dosnt mean the employees could. I camt speak for firearms manufactures but I have worked for many companies whos products I could not afford.

If Im not mistaken, Windam Weaponry was founded by employees left behind from a company that packed its bags.

        • That company was Bushmaster, which Freedom Group moved to co-locate with Remington in Illion, NY.

That’s certainly proving to have been an intelligent decision…. NOT.

  4. The law may be legal, but it is not moral. I wish the pro-2A attorneys luck. Now is the time for legal battles to be fought.

  5. Am I the only person concerned when the NRA esentially asks other groups to ask their permission before taking legal action?
SAF I’d trust, NRA and this other group…I’m not so sure about.
and who are these leading 2a attornies?

    • (ACK! previous reply didn’t even come close to posting)

Good question on WHO these lawyers are. It can make an impact on if their request is reasonable. Anyway, I hope that it don’t take years to digest that mess called laws. (Wouldn’t surprise me if the mess is a deterrent and a means to slow down the opposition, just as the “emergency” rush was meant to keep opposition from forming and getting in the way as much as it was to stop rush sales, in which he was too late to do anyway.)

      • I am sure the SAF has picked up the bat phone to the NRA and are asking WTF?? If the SAF is not already involved somehow.

  6. The NRA has NEVER had any priority that wasn’t centered around either the profits of US gun manufacture’s or the ability to fund raise by fear mongering. They have attempted repeatedly to screw over critical gun rights actions in court. They have no business going near this.

  7. The biggest problem we have as gun owners is that we are so divided. And that is what is making us lose to the liberals. There are 100 million gun owners in this country and if we join together instead of bickering over petti BS we would be able to take back this country from the left who are winning by leaps and bounds. Join the NRA now!!! The numbers alone would stop their advance. Then we must continue to fight to take back our country and be Americans again!!!

  8. The reason the Japanese didn’t invade the mainland of the U.S. is because every body had guns. We should all have guns with same firepower if not greater than foreign and domestic enemies who infringe on our constitution . This is what the 2nd Amendment is all about. I am a Vietnam vet, What the hell were we fighting for? we are losing our freedom here in the US more and more every day. Wake up people!

  9. We need to band together as brothers like our forfathers did. Its out and out tyranny at its best..gun laws and restrictions protect noone. if you register they will take them away. We need civil disobedience as a whole. We need to remember who voted for this stuff and next year send them packing. And try to replace them with people who care about our rights like Kathy Marchione… We need people who will listen to and represent the people…I say out with every politician who has tried to advance his own agendas by following party lines…remember who they are or put a list come voting time . Send them back to the car wash.there not doing the job anyway..grass roots effort to get rid of these gun grabbing politicians..
