I have been reading your site for about a year and wanted to pass on this mail from Moveon.org and wanted to share with you guys. I am really disappointed in the organization and let them know in my feedback that they do not have my support and that they clearly haven’t done their research. It’s narrow-minded thinking like this that drives me crazy. It seems like yet another obstacle for Illinois citizens and their second amendment rights . . .

Dear Illinois MoveOn member,

When the Illinois legislature goes back into session on November 27, the NRA could try to make it legal to carry concealed weapons in Illinois. Don’t let them succeed.

The situation is urgent! Illinois is the only state in the U.S. that still does not allow people to carry concealed weapons. If the gun lobby succeeds, people will be able to carry guns on their persons, in cars, buses, and trains, in houses of worship, schools, libraries, stores, shopping malls, movie theaters, restaurants, offices, and businesses in our state.

That’s why I created a petition on SignOn.org to the Illinois State Legislature and Governor Pat Quinn, which says:

We, the undersigned, oppose any ‘Concealed Carry’ legislation in Illinois that would allow people to carry concealed weapons in public, on their persons, in cars, buses, and trains, in houses of worship, schools, libraries, stores, shopping malls, movie theaters, restaurants, offices, and businesses, or anywhere other than in their own homes.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

We must take a stand against the violence that is terrifying neighborhoods across the country. We must act before there is more bloodshed like at Aurora, Colorado, Columbine High School, Northern Illinois University, Virginia Tech, and Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

Please sign this petition to help stop the gun-violence juggernaut which has rolled over this country in recent years.

Thank you.

  1. They should change their name from the “Stop Concealed Carry Coalition” to the “Enable Criminals Coalition.”

    • lemme see… “We must take a stand against the violence that is terrifying neighborhoods across the country.” Who are the violent people in your neighborhood? Is it the law abiding citizens or perhaps criminals who don’t seem to care that murder, rape, robbery etc. are already illegal. If these criminals want to obtain guns illegally, guess what, they will. But by all means, keep the law abiding citizens unarmed and helpless. I mean, just look at all those other states where CCW is allowed…those licensed individuals are just killing people left and right for no reason at all, right? I guess there’s no cure for stupid.

        • There really is a cure for stupid but we have, as a society, decided to protect people from their own stupidity. Stupid moves used to be at least painful, if not lethal.

  2. Maybe they should start by finding the source of the violence. Instead of blaming the tool, blame the person holding the tool! Wow, what a concept! They’ll never do it because that means that individuals would have to be responsible for their own actions. Libs don’t believe in personal responsibility…unless they’re blaming the conservatives.

  3. It kind of defeats your own purpose when the last line mentions all of those “gun-free zones” where concealed carry MAY have made all of the difference in the world.

    • For the sake of accuracy, I will point out that the Sikh temple in Oak Creek was technically not a “gun-free zone” there are no restrictions on carrying weapons in religious facilities in Wisconsin nor was there any sign at the temple banning firearms. But in all other aspects, +1.

  4. That’s funny, the places they listed were all gun-free zones…

And mayhap they should look at the fact that blood certainly doesn’t run in the streets when you allow concealed carry.

Too many people have a fascination with tasting their own rectums.

  5. The typical Illinois urbanite would not feel out of place living in Tehran Iran.As such a Chicago resident should be considered a citizen of a foreign nation not affiliated with the United States of America.

    • There are no “Citizens” in Illinois there are only residents. “Citizens” have rights that the government is required by law to respect (even if the government routinely violates those rights). Mere residents are sometimes allowed minor privileges as long as they don’t irritate their rulers or their ruler’s private select militia.

  6. Moveon.org admits the reality of America: “Illinois is the only state in the U.S. that still does not allow people to carry concealed weapons.” Uh huh. Notice how concealed carry hasn’t been a problem? Some people have an extraordinary talent for avoiding the real world.

  7. a) In none of the example locations cited were the weapons “concealed”

    b) In there slogan, “in action” should really be ONE word … “inaction”
That certainly is not an example of democracy (unless it has become a synonym for dictatorship)

  8. The 2 previous Illinois governors are both in prison. The current one is a panty waisted puppet. That is why I moved to Wisconsin. Scott Walker is a rock star! Moveon.org is one of Obama’s favorite leftie troublemaker causes. He came from Chicago, Illinois. Need I say more.

    • Lib(tard)s reap what they sow. Theories that work on paper only are foisted on society through the power of ‘Big Gov’ by the use of propaganda on feminine emotion…….to protect the children (us) from ourselves.

  9. Imagine that… the advocates of diversity, equality and the working man advocating for racist, classist and sexist gun control.

It’s kind of bizarre, is it not?

Why is it leftists hate freedom so much?

  10. My understanding of MoveOn is that it allows members to send messages to other members using their email list. I’m not surprised that someone has used it to broadcast their irrational fears in Illinois, it happens frequently in my area.

  11. Wonderful beat ! I would like to apprentice at the same time as you amend your site, how can i subscribe for a blog website? The account aided me a applicable deal. I were tiny bit acquainted of this your broadcast offered bright transparent concept

  12. Poor ole Abe Lincoln must be doing back flips in his grave. His once great state has been taken over by a bunch of low life COMMIE scum.

  13. An actual woman reads this site? That’s a bigger story than us pro 2A men shooting fish in a barrel over a stupid petition. I’ll have to watch my behavior around here knowing an actual woman is around.

  14. This is why all “progressives” and their orginizations are an enemy to gun rights and gun owners. One way or the other Illinois will be getting CC be it through legislation or litigation.

  15. “Thanks for contacting MoveOn.org.

We welcome your comments and suggestions.
We get a lot feedback, so please don’t count on a personal reply.
But all mail is read and carefully considered.

    Sincerely,

MoveOn.org Support” I just received this reply from the MoveOnCommies and I’m pretty sure they didn’t read what I had to say because I let them know how I really feel about their gun hating COMMIE wasteland.

  16. Dear Lee Goodman,
What a simple tool and fool you are. You are neither good, nor a man, in the classical sense of the terms, of course. What a truly and profoundly pathetic specimen you are.
    Sincerely,
    Greg in Allston

  17. Jessica W., thanks for sending this to TTAG site and to Dan for posting it. I’m glad that you’ve seen through MoveOn’s ignorance and narrow-mindedness., and walked away from their organization.

  18. I will keep this simple:

    F—Soros
    F—Move On.org
    F—Stop Concealed Carry Coalition
    F—Violence Policy Center
F—Cease Fire: A Comprehensive Strategy to Reduce Firearms Violence.
F—ACORN or whatever they are called nowadays
    F—Mayors Against Illegal Guns

  19. Illinois is the only state in the U.S. that still does not allow people to carry concealed weapons.

Well, that should make it really easy to compare your violent crime statistics against everyone else in the country, shouldn’t it? That way you can see how well citizen disarmament is working for you. Here’s a hint: It’s not.

  20. Like I commented in the feedback section when this was e-mailed to me: How’s that lack of concealed carry working out in the cesspool known as Chicago? I live in Central IL, won’t go near the place. Des Moines, Indy, St Louis, Louisville? No problem. I refuse to enter the People’s Republic of Cook County.

  21. In reading the “petition” I was interested to note how many “fear-monger” buttons the writer managed to push in barely seven paragraphs. What’s truly disturbing/disgusting is to realize how many people out there in Illinois will nod their heads in agreement their chests tightening fearfully as they visualize the images he conjures, sign the “petition” and probably send a check to this jerk’s organization to fund more of his scare propaganda.
It must be a bitter thing indeed to live in such abject fear and loathing of the vast majority of your fellow humans that you would accept all this guy’s crap as gospel truth. We all know there are evil scumbags out there that would kill another person for a few dollars or just out of spite, but they are far fewer than the greater majority of decent people.
But, then, I own guns, so as per the progressive gun grabbers, I am a ravening mad dog Barbarian…so, what do I know?

  22. I wonder what people like Soros or Bloomberg would say if they, or maybe their daughter, had their lives saved from a knife wielding rapist by a CC guy (or gal). The irony would be painful.

  23. HEY, Someone needs to infiltrate or join Move….( to get the mailing list) and see about maybe sending a message w/ link or directing those ( on the list) that might want to carry, where to sign a separate PRO CCW petition. I would think
set up a separate petition for Move list to sign, then add it with a Petition for the masses to see and sign.
