What Could Possibly Go Wrong: Bikers Teaching Hipsters How to Hunt Edition [NSFW]

Warning: a biker slits a white rabbit’s throat in the video above. (Cue: Jefferson Airplane.) As for the Rat’s suggestion that he’s doing the world a favor by teaching hipsters how to shoot, point taken. Especially given urbandictionary.com‘s definition of the term: “A subculture of men and women typically in their 20′s and 30′s that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter.” Yeah, natural fit with a biker gang. But WTH. It can’t hurt can it? Well, not if they work on that whole gun-handling thing a bit more. Best line ever: “Can I shoot shit still or no?”

“Yeah, natural fit with a biker gang”

Stop profiling biker gangs. When they aren’t riding around on the weekends dressed up as bad-azz dangerous pappas and mammas some of those bikers are MBA’s working in corporate America, advertising execs, culinary grad chefs, physicians, writers, and even attorneys.

As for the group referenced in this post, yeah the are probably a bunch of self-absorbed dweebs.

Saw the word “hipsters” and desided not to watch. Speaking as a college student, I dislike hipsters. Mostly because it’s getting harder and harder to find jeans that fit comfortably. Don’t even mention the counterculture crap or their attitude toward guns, politics, religion, etc. Chronological snobbery as John Piper put it. Stupid.

I remember the first time I saw a chicken get slaughtered when I was a kid at my aunts farm. I thought it was pretty cool. I didn’t have PTSD for weeks to follow like these damn hipsters. animals kill and eat other animals. get over it.

Setting assumptions aside (I have a lot of people in my life that could be identified as a member of one or the other of said groups), I think that any attention paid to the issue of just how distant most Americans have gotten from their food sources is a good thing.

On the one hand, I am so tempted to make fun of this guy. Getting squeamish about killing a rabbit. I literally have seen 10yr olds with stronger constitutions than that.

But, on the other hand, every hunter with a functioning conscience understands what he was saying.

One of life’s interesting contradictions is that many hunters are also animal lovers.

As for hipsters learning to shoot and hunt. I think that is a great thing. Far too many people are utterly disconnected from the source of their food, not just meat. How many folks plant a garden these days? My own efforts at gardening are pretty sad.

For the last few years I have been taking a buddy of mine that is a quasi-hipster hunting. Last year he got his first deer. It was a hunt for the ages. Perfect weather, good crew, and finished up with dandy 8pt, 180lb buck. We were hunting thru a swamp meadow on the rim of a lake when I jumped the deer and fired twice with marginal hits. The deer turned towards my friend and stopped dead and reared back when it saw him. Mr. Tight-pants Hipster fired a single straight-on shot to the base of the neck at 50yds. Bam! D-R-T… Belly up and just twitching. Hard to beat that.

The “marriage” of bikers and hipsters is nothing compared to this: Elena Kagan is going antelope hunting in Wyoming with Antonin Scalia. True. He taught her how to shoot and now he’s going to teach her to hunt. Scalia and Kagan. Now THAT’S a mixed-marriage.

    • avatarRKflorida says:

Mixed Marriage? Anthony Scalia is the beard.

Saw the news about this too, and I thought it was funny.

My 2nd thought was that it’s sad that most folks in Washington DC don’t cultivate those kinds of relationships anymore. Everything’s so partisan, both the GOP and Democratic party can’t hardly work together anymore.

Justices Scalia and Kagan merit some serious respect for at least being friends outside of the courtroom.

Having been raised on my grandfathers farm and having been taught how to kill and skin a rabbit, I look at that that guy did in the video and all I can say is WTF! Really, there are easier ways than what that dude did and also quicker and more humane.

I noticed that no one was careless about where the muzzle was pointing. These guys look like they are safe to be around.

Are hipsters any good? I caught one last week and and she tasted terrible. Maybe I just cooked her wrong?

I started life on a farm. And yes we city dwellers have lost touch with the realities of food production.

The lines from a western where a kid was talking to a cowboy.

    Kid,”What’s your horses name?”
Cowboy,”You don’t give a name to something you might have to eat.”

There’s lotsa very NY-hipster-centric viewpoints and people who will have you slapping your forehead and wondering how can we re-introduce eugenics, but…

I swear, VICE has some stuff that you will find interesting in the video stories. A very decent 30+ minute piece shot in Mexico with one of the Mormon settlements (Romney’s is right up the road) and their battle with the drug smugglers and the Mexican gov about their gun rights. And there is more.

Yeah VICE does have some very interesting content. The visit to North Korea has been my personal favorite.
