Quote of the Day: Oy Vey Edition

“In a time when high-profile shootings like the one in Aurora have awakened the debate on gun control, it’s still unclear who, if anyone, can be blamed when shooting tragedies occur.” Alice Hines, Walmart Not To Blame In Mississippi Shooting For Selling Ammo To Underage Xavier Moore [via huffingtonpost.com]

    Uh, maybe the shooter?
    Just a SWAG.

  2. avatar jwm says:

the shooter is to blame. no one else. you don’t punish the whole village because of the idiot’s actions.

  3. avatar Merits says:

    It is a mystery.

  4. avatar GS650G says:

How about those scary, bad firearms that go off suddenly without provocation?

  5. avatar Aharon says:

“Alice Hines is a reporter for the Huffington Post covering the retail industry and consumer culture”

Just the kind of deep informed thinker writing posts about the RKBA and gun control issues I go to gun blogs to find.

Could those people be any more stupid?! I’m sorry if I’m a bit blunt, but the SHOOTER who killed the people is to BLAME, not the WEAPON or someone who sat at a cash register 50 miles away. I nearly slammed my face into my desk when I read: “it’s still unclear who, if anyone, can be blamed when shooting tragedies occur.”- Alice Hines; woman that is one of the most amazingly stupid comments I’ve had the misfortune of reading.

Guns need people to pull the trigger, they cant do it on their own.

  7. avatar ? says:

Lib-tards will always blame everyone but the shooter

  8. avatar JoshinGA says:

Hey Alice, here’s a hint: the guy who pulled the trigger.

  9. avatar Bill Baldwin says:

“…it’s still unclear who, if anyone, can be blamed when shooting tragedies occur.”

There are no words to describe how stupid that comment is. You could say it was stupid a thousand times a day for a thousand years and you would still fall short of describing the stupidity.

  10. avatar Chas says:

This just in – it’s unclear who, if anyone, can be blamed for Rosie O’Donnell’s obesity.

    1. avatar DonS says:

Either the shovel, the trough, or the slop. Anything but the eater.

  11. avatar Jon R. says:

Well, usually the idea is to blame everyone but the shooter… like… violent movies, violent video games, the shooters favorite musician(s), the shooters parents for not raising them properly, the NRA, the firearm industry, the medical system, the education system, so on and so on….

But lets never do anything hasty like hold an individual responsible for his own actions, because that would be a responsible thing to do, and we don’t like being responsible, do we Alice?

  12. avatar Silver says:

Considering criminals and lowlives make up the bulk of the leftist voting base, you’ll never see a leftist blaming a criminal for his actions.

  13. avatar Sanchanim says:

Ok now I am just so confused!
I mean really we would blame the bad guy right, but now everyone is a bad guy according to Alice! Ok darn it it was my fault ok… geez..
Alice fell down the rabbit hole and hasn’t been seen since, except a few articles here and there about shopping!

  14. avatar Steve says:

I went and read Alice Hines article. Turns out Mr. Xavier Moore used the ammo to shoot and kill his mother’s abusive boyfriend. He (Moore) was drunk when he shot and killed the BF. Moore claims he was trying to scare the abusive BF.

Also of note. Mr Moore was underage (20) and thus was not legally allowed to buy pistol ammo. The thrust of the article was the question of whether WalMart was in some way responsible because they sold Ammo to an underage person.

Of course, you and I know full well that when you buy ammo they often ask you whether or not the ammo is for a rifle or a handgun. If you answer “handgun”, they card you to determine if you are 21 or older. If you answer “rifle” they look at you and if you look 18 or older you are good to go.

Many types of ammo can be used for rifles and handguns interchangeably. Which makes it pointless to even bother asking if the person looks 18 or older.

One of the many inane, pointless laws that apply to firearms and ammo.

I had the same thought, because .45 ACP and .45 Long Colt can both be shot in handguns and long guns, and for long gun use, the age is 18. Interesting that the family sued Walmart. Does that mean the phone company is liable because they supplied telephone service to the criminal that committed (insert horrible crime here) and used the phone to coordinate his attack? Is the car or truck manufacturer liable if their vehicle is used as a car/bomb? Can the computer manufacturer or retailer be held accountable for a hacker’s actions? Today we find out if soda retailers in NYC are going to be restricted to prevent obesity because the citizens of New York are apparently too stupid to actually diet and loose weight according to his highness the Mayor.
