“We host the gun turn-in event on an annual basis to encourage residents to turn in their guns so we can take guns off the street and it’s unfortunate that this group is abusing a program intended to increase the safety of our communities.” – Chicago PD spokesbabe Melissa Stratton reacting to the Guns Save Life effort to fund their NRA shooting camp with Windy City gun buyback money.

  1. You set the rules of the game, Melissa. That means you don’t get to whine when you get played. Life’s rough, sweetie. Get a fvcking helmet.

    • Life’s tough. It’s tougher if you’re stupid. — John Wayne
Here’s your sign. — Bill Engvall

Nothing in the world is more dangerous than a sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. — Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

  2. I know it’s rude, but sometimes in life the only appropriate response is, “Oh, shut up.”

  3. “Chicago PD spokesbabe Melissa Stratton”

At first glance, I thought Melissa’s last name was ‘Strappon’. No disrespect intended to spokesbabe Officer Melissa.

  4. It’s not the NRA’s fault that Chicago uses their population’s money and safety to fund a worth-while camp for children. Maybe they should think of better ways to protect their population. Maybe they could allow their population to protect themselves. There’s a novel thought.

    • They’re not using taxpayer money – not because this isn’t costing the taxpayers, but just because the taxpayers have literally no money. The city and state are totally broke. They’re just putting this on the charge card.

Those kids better keep their 10/22s. If the Bush / Obama / Bernake economy keeps up, I see a lot of squirrel soup in their futures.

  5. Ah, the sweet taste of anti tears.

I love it when corrupt tyrants get butthurt when decent, responsible people turn their own morally and intellectually bankrupt tactics against them. May there be much more to come.

  6. I don’t see how this effort by Guns Save Life “is abusing a program intended to increase the safety of our communities”. After all, they are getting unsafe and hazardous guns out of the marketplace, with a guarantee that the guns will be scrapped and recycled and never blow up in anyone’s face. And as an added benefit, they are paying to train children in firearms safety. Sounds like a major increase in community safety to me!

  7. You know the irony is so thick you could slice it with a knife. Melissa Stratton wrote, “… it’s unfortunate that this group is abusing a program intended to increase the safety of our communities.” The NRA shooting camp probably did way more to increase the safety of their community than their gun buy-back program.

  8. FTFY, Holly.

it’s unfortunate that this group is abusing a program intended to increase the safety of our children by giving cash – no questions asked – to criminals so we can destroy evidence for them.

  9. The racial diversity in that picture is……not there. Invite some suburbs black kids while you guys are in Chicago maybe? Teaching the population segment most likely to be in conditions conducive to creating criminals may help even more. In any case good job GSL.

  10. How can they legally call it a “gun buyback” when Chicago never owned them in the first place?
Spokesbabe: Life is tough. It’s even tougher when you’re stupid!
Money offered, money gladly accepted, especially from Chicago!!
Been through there once, hope it never happens again!
