“Calling tougher gun laws pivotal to Chicago’s crime-fighting strategy, Mayor Rahm Emanuel [above] said Wednesday he would do whatever it takes to protect the legal integrity of the city’s firearms ordinance, a portion of which was overturned by a federal judge,” suntimes.com reports. “Emanuel refused to say whether he would appeal U.S. District Judge Samuel Der-Yeghiayan’s ruling, or simply rewrite the overturned section used to deny a man a gun permit because of a prior misdemeanor conviction.” Blood not boiling yet? Take your heart meds and make the jump for the money shot . . .

Emanuel said he would await Corporation Counsel Stephen Patton’s recommendation before deciding which way to go. But the mayor said he is determined to preserve the ordinance one way or another.

“The reason we have gun laws — the reason I’m trying to also pass tougher gun laws down in Springfield — is because it’s an essential complement to your overall crime strategy,” Emanuel said at an unrelated news conference.

“And we will adjust. I’m waiting for Steve’s comments, but we will do whatever we need to do to continue to pursue getting guns off our streets and out of the hands of gang-bangers and drug dealers.”

Except, I dunno, increasing the detection, arrest and conviction rates for said miscreants. Or, for that matter, allowing their potential victims to arm themselves—as is their Constitutionally-protected right—in some kind of weird ass deterrent deal.

Apparently, Rahm’s crime fighting strategy also involves getting rid of kids. Or warehousing them. Or something.

“You cannot have just more cops on the street. It’s part of a comprehensive strategy you’ve heard me talk about. … Our crime strategy is putting more police on the street and getting kids, guns and drugs off the street.”

        • As you may know, rahm or ram means supreme and emanuel means “God is with us.” So put Rahm together with Emanuel and what you get is a mother who thought her son was god.

Which, I should point out, has only happened once before if you believe in the New Testament.

Since I don’t believe Rahm Emanuel actually bathes with water, much less walks on it, I’m thinking that Rahm’s mahm was maybe deep into the schnapps when she named her little boychick.

  1. People like Mr. Emmanuel and Mr. Bloomberg wouldn’t change their colors for anything short of a firing squad, and I have doubts that extreme situation would change their minds

  2. My uncle would always tell me that,”You can’t argue with stupid.” Usually after spending an hour or more arguing with a friend on various matters based on FACTS they would refuse to budge on their beliefs based on STUPID.

      • I don’t know if you’re right, but I wasn’t saying he is. I’m really bad about implying things that I don’t necessarily mean. When I read the post it made me remember what my uncle said, regardless of the legitimacy of the connection.

  3. How did this ASS CLOWN get elected??….really….how?…are the people in that town nothing but sheep???

  4. That picture goes with the headline perfectly.

I wonder what is strategy is for getting kids of the streets?

Waiting periods for new children? May-issue parenting permits? Bulk acquisition limits? An “assault children ban” banning inherently dangerous aesthetic features? Making sure they all come with integrated or external locking mechanisms? Microstamping potential fathers’ “firing pin”?

Expect more “common sense” child control soon.

  5. Rahm Emanuel will run for President after Obama is done screwing things up. His time in Chicago is to prep him to continue the Chicago machine.

  6. If he incarcerates all the kids and feeds them a high fat diet of pizza and pepsi for a year and then gives them video games to play when they leave prison they’ll be too fat and lazy to be thugs again.

    • That is pretty much what all ready happens, when I was in Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center the guards would bring in their personal PlayStation 2s and the food was pretty horrible from a nutritional point of view.

  7. The last time I was forced to visit Chicago was a few weeks ago. According to what I heard (holding my nose does not affect my hearing) there is growing interest in ousting him from office over the high crime and murder rate there.

It’s too bad he and others like him who have made a living denying our rights and ruining this country will die rich and comfortable when they deserve much different fates.

    • The people of Chicago need to run that “ousting” idea past the local democratic machine first, they have other ideas.

  8. Unfortuately Rahm is going no where fast, the chicago political machine is too strong. I am so sick of my rights being infringed upon in this state. I am trained and ready to CC but I am simply not allowed. I have a family with young children to protect, but I face major charges if I choose to carry and brake the law. I wish moving was an option, but it is not. There are several representatives who are fighting to get concealed carry laws passes, but I believe that the only way it will happen is if the courts rule Illinois’ laws unconstitutional.

    • Rahm stated in a recent interview that he loves his job and would not consider returning to Washington. But of course. He is the Boss, the capo de capo. And thus one of the most powerful politicians in the country. Why would he ever give up such a great job? We know that Bloomy isn’t going to give up his job without a fight either….

  9. “The reason we have gun laws — the reason I’m trying to also pass tougher gun laws down in Springfield — is because it’s an essential complement to your overall crime strategy,” Emanuel said at an unrelated news conference.

Well he’s not wrong. What he’s failing to mention is that his “overall crime strategy” is about increasing crime, not decreasing it.

    • his “overall crime strategy” is about increasing crime, not decreasing it.

Well, to be fair, graft and corruption aren’t crimes in Chicago. They’re more like privileges, or a way of life, or business as usual.

  10. Ironically, people like this are exactly why the Second Amendment was created and why it’s so important for a free nation.

  11. And still, so many otherwise reasonably intelligent folks, including supporters of gun rights, continue to vote for dirty, stinkin’ libtard democrats like this shameless piece of shyt – “fool you [over and over again], shame on you”!

  12. If only Chicago, or all of Illinois, would succeed from the Union. Would we have another Civil War, or wish them well and offer to take them back, if they decided to abide by the Constitution and honor the Bill of Rights?
Sometimes I wish there was a Constitutional provision to forcibly eject a state from the Union for repeated failure to abide by the spirit of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

  13. Please do not judge our entire state based on what the mentally challenged people in Chicago do. There are plenty of us pro-2A gun owners in the rest of the state who would like to see all of Cook County nuked from orbit.

    • It appears that the good people of Illinois are afflicted with the insanity of Chicago in much the same way New Yorkers are with NYC, or Californians with LA and San Francisco. In fact, there are probably many states where the stupidity of machine politics in a major city screws up not only that city, but the rest of the state as well.

      • That’s true about CA and NY, but more so in Illinois. Without the Chicago area and Madison county (East St. Louis), Illinois is a solid red state.

        • It’s close to that in NJ as well. We have a big chunk of Megopolis, from all of Hudson County, across to the Newark area, and on down from Edison to Trenton, and Camden, that is all traditionally Dem controlled urban area.
The saner people are more influential in the Northwest and South areas of the state.

  14. This guy does have clue what to do safe Chicago from crime . Other than make harder for people there protech them self from crime.

  15. I guess Rhambo’s tough gun laws, and comprehensive crime control is why the gun death and wounds (by thugs and criminals) rate in his city is higher than our troops suffer in Afghanistan.

  16. I used to have to go to Chicago all the time on business – now I refuse to travel there and will never return. Why would I want to spend my time with people so stupid as to elect a scumbag like Rahm Emmanuel……? Seriously, what is it with the people of Chicago – and why do you put up with this Dimwit as your Mayor?
