    • Many of them won’t send you anything at all, and those that want to make that clear, and have a check box to opt out. I’ve been signing up for most everything on his list every month for the past three or four. I think in that time I’ve only gotten one or two errant emails, and those were likely from me forgetting to check/uncheck the appropriate box. Both were easily remedied.

      • I wish it was so easy to get off the sportsman’s guide email list. I ordered a few crappy rusted FAL mags from them a few years ago, and I swear I’ve unsubscribed from their list at least 3 times. I recently had to send a vulgar rant to their CS department and domain admin, and file a CAN-SPAM compliant with the FTC.

        • matt,

For as long as I’ve been on the Internet, this kind of thing has been a problem. Most companies are reliable, a few are not. I’ve used for years and am pleased with the results.

I’ve had several (many) breaches of trust, most not the direct fault of the providers, but most often hacks of their mailing lists. Sneakemail lets you set up a reliable e-mail address, good for as long as you want it.

When an e-mail address is compromised, I know where it came from, and I can simply toss the compromised address and create a new one.

It costs roughly 2 bucks a month. I believe there are also free ones around, but this has worked perfectly for me, so I haven’t bothered checking out the others.

Whatever works for you, it’s a nice feeling to drop an abuser into the shit can. 🙂

  1. I don’t understand why so many of these contests (if not all) have a 21 minimum age. Most states allow 18+ to own rifles, shotguns, and handguns. Maybe not by from an FFL, but still possess. Stupid contests.
