Obscure Object of Desire: Shotgun Shell Chair

Looking for something special to outfit that hunting cabin for the fall? Could your mancave’s feng use a tad more shui? If so, you’ll want to consider a Fully Loaded chair or two from Brooklyn-based designer Alexander Reh. “Brimming with 388 12 gauge shotgun shells, this chair truly comes Fully Loaded. The perforated steel frame is gun-blued by hand and loaded with refurbished, once-fired shotshells. An odd dichotomy of comfort and demise is prevalent in this combination of furniture and weaponry.” While we’ll wait to pronounce on its sitability, it appears to provide plenty of comfy flow thru ventilation for your backside. At $3,750 each, it ought to. The good news: volume discounts are available for the handcrafted seats, so you’ll save if you want to outfit your poker table with these babies.

Carve a hole in the middle and you’ve got a great place to take a shot.

If you look at picture 6 of this on his website, this can not be a comfortable chair.

Plus, I was thinking that if you add a little perspiration, all those circles will be green in color from the brass. I can in no way justify the retail cost of the chair vs, the actual cost to manufacture. So it must be priced as if it was a piece of art. I’m thinking that these should run around $250 each (not including the shot shells) to make if he is doing small runs of a dozen or so.

Gun oriented Christmas photos, furniture and shirts with more than a few words are very tacky. Let’s put this right next to Elvis in the garage.

Besides, that money would be better spent on a tricked out M1A or LaRue OBR.

My first thought: “What a great idea for storing ammo out of the way.”
