Fred Ricciutti’s a Korean War vet who got through the ordeal carrying a WWII German Luger. That ol’ Nazi heater’s still serving him well and may have saved his life last night when a burglar broke into his home in Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania through a kitchen window. And to hear the 84-year-old Fred tell the tale, it sounds like he did his share of sentry duty during his time in the service . . .

We get the story from

According to police, Raymond Hills, 25, fled from the Elizabeth Township home just after 4:30 a.m. when 84-year-old Fred Ricciutti shot him with the German Luger he used in the Korean War.

“I said ‘Halt, who’s there?'” said Ricciutti. “I’m thinking, friend or foe, he shouldn’t be there that time of day.”

Hills headed for the hills after he felt Ricciutti’s 9mm of GTFO graze the back of his neck. That’s when Ricciutti dialed 5-o who tackled him a few blocks away. All’s well that ends well, nein?

    • I believe its when its elderly person doing the shooting versus the
C&R firearm. Nobody want to say anything bad about grand
pappy…..but if it was a young whipper snapper, all would be lost
in context and the rush to hang him.

    • Okay; I’ll bite. How’d the pistol end up 30′ away from him? It is hard to imagine that one’s instict when shot is to toss your weapon as far as possible.

      • I suspect the “suspect” threw it to get rid of it. I could be wrong. If you just tried to break into a house, and got shot at, having the police catch you with the firearm might be more of a problem. The guy having to make noise breaking in gave the man enough time to have a little surprise of his own waiting. A professional might have “stood his ground” and killed the man. Not too many pros do small time stuff.

  1. The Goblin can now boast that he was shot with an authentic WWII Lugar while snuggling next to Bubba.

  2. Was this a real DGU? After all the perp is still breathing. We need the usual suspect to adjudicate this.
