Silencers are Legal Shoot – Dallas, TX 4/28

There’s an event coming up in April called the Silencers are Legal Shoot which is shaping up to be a gigantic gathering of suppressed shooting in the  Dallas area. Most of the big names have signed on as sponsors including Silencerco, Advanced Armament, Surefire, Osprey, YHM, Gemtech and more. Attendees are welcome to bring their own guns to have some fun (and ammo vendors will be onsite to help you feed the beast), but be aware that you won’t be allowed to fire unless you have a can. Needless to say I’ll be in attendance (so drop me a line if you want to grab a beer). The only question at this point is whether my silencer will be ready in time. Make the jump for more info…

Silencerco and the American Silencer Association is putting on the first annual Silencers Are Legal Shoot in Dallas Texas on Saturday, April 28, 2012. This event promises to be one of the most exciting and educational live fire events of the year. Bring your personal firearms and have the opportunity to test various manufactures suppressors on it. Nothing but mafioso silently whacking each other to the sound of soft “pfhht pfhhts,” count me out.

    /sarcasm

  2. avatar Henry Bowman says:

Foghorn, how did you get your job!? I’m extremely jealous.

    1. avatar Nick Leghorn says:

Mainly by being awesome. Apparently I’m good at that.

  3. avatar jlottmc says:

I live near here, and if it were not for the time getting a weekend off, I’d go. I’ll pass this on to others that may well be able to attend, especially one in my academy class that just happens to have a can and no stamp yet (paperwork is taking forever). Thanks Nick, get me hooked on these too.

    Silencers are legal?

Are they trying to make a point? Is this a protest?

What’s the point? No one’s gonna hear them.

    1. avatar Moonshine7102 says:

I see what you did there…

  5. avatar Ralph says:

The organizations name should be silencersarelegalexceptinMassachusettswhereowningoneisafelony.com

  6. avatar Mike in NC says:

Someday Massachusetts, New Jersey, California, New York City, Chicago and Washington DC will be brought back into the Union and have the rights of their people restored under the Constitution. Not really sure how they managed to silently secede in the first place…

    1. avatar Ralph says:

OK for MA, but do we really have to take the rest of ’em?

  7. avatar pastubbs says:

Are you going to take any video it would be nice t see a line of suppressed firearms going off.

    1. avatar Nick Leghorn says:

Probably more still photos than video, but rest assured there will be moving pictures here on this site following the shoot.

  8. avatar Frank says:

I’m not sure what would be more enjoyable. The silencers or the full auto. 🙂

SBR with a can and a giggle switch. #winning

  9. avatar Jwhite says:

    Not in Cali.

  10. avatar Dyspeptic Gunsmith says:

A point of correct terminology: They’re really called “suppressors.” They don’t “silence” a gun, they merely attenuate the peak sound level, especially when one is using supersonic ammunition.

  11. avatar Destrado says:

I’ll definitely be there and down to get a beer with fellow TTAGers.

  12. avatar Andrew says:
