TTAG Turns Two: Ralph Edition

Let’s face it: The internet and the print firearms landscape were as boring as a performance of The Cherry Orchard in pantomime. That was before TTAG arrived to shake up the gun world and make it fun again. Just look at the field. On one site, every firearm ever made is just dandy and a real joy to shoot, even when it isn’t. Then there’s a print periodical with breathless feature articles on hunting the greater and lesser kudu in Wherethecraparewestan. Want to read twenty pages comparing the relative velocities of various 9.3 X 64mm Brenneke loadings? There’s a nap for that. Yeah, like most two-year-olds, TTAG soils its drawers from time to time, gets into trouble now and again, occasionally makes too much noise and constantly irritates the grownups – and I hope that it never stops.

    Totally agree.

I question the independence of some of the larger firearms print publications when an article reviewing a certain weapon is followed, on the very next page, with a full spread by the manufacturer advertising that very weapon.

I wonder if the reviewer said that the firearm in question was the worse piece of monkey shit ever designed and built by man in the modern era – would that ad still be there?

    Food for thought…

There is no summation like a Ralph summation. The best!

Ralph, I couldn’t agree with you more. Sometimes TTAG wets the bed, but it beats the gun rags. ( Not to insult real rags.) Sometimes it gives me a case of the red ass, but at least I don’t fall asleep reading it. I stopped subscribing to the print publications years ago because I finally determined I was just paying for the gun companys to advertise. I finaly caught on to the ‘I never met a gun I didn’t like’ montra.

Ralph, you are a man with much wisdom.

Wow, you really don’t know a lot about guns. You have a lot a learning and growing to do. A LOT.
