You Do Know What Saturday Is, Dontchya?

No? Well yes, it’s November 19th. But it’s also National Ammo Day. What – you don’t have that marked on your calendar? Yeesh. Don’t worry, you don’t have make a big political statement or anything. All you have to do is get out to your friendly local retailer and pick up at least 100 rounds of food for your bangstick. As if you really needed an excuse to buy more ammo, right?

Now I know you know the answer to the age-old question: How much ammo is enough? Answer: MORE. It doesn’t matter how much ammunition you have, you always need more. So lift those sofa cushions, brush aside the Dorito and potato chip crumbs and mine that upholstery for all the spare shekels you can muster.

Brand, caliber, grains, FMJ, JHP…none of that really matters. Just get yourself some. And since it’ll be a Saturday, why not head right out and send a good portion of those minty fresh projectiles downrange?

I rank this right up there with Boss’ Day, Shop Small Saturday, National Talk like a Pirate Day, Valentine’s Day, and all of the rest of those stupid holidays.

Heyheyhey there Is nothing wrong with talk like a pirate day.

Don’t forget the wonderfully manufactured “Sweetest Day” so that businesses can try to con you into a SECOND Valentine’s Day of flushing money down the toilet.

My 2nd favorite holiday of the year, right after National Adopt A Stripper Day.

    1. avatar Dirk Diggler says:

Let me know when that one is

    2. avatar Totenglocke says:

But if you adopt a stripper, isn’t it then illegal to have sex with her?

      1. avatar Rob J says:

Not if she is imported into the country.

if i buy reloading supplies does that count? i.e gun powder, bullets, primers….

    1. Definitely. I hereby give you – and all Armed Intelligentsia members – special dispensation to buy reloading supplies in lieu of actual ammunition.

Time to knock out another 1000 rounds of .45 Auto.

Also known as national “use people’s political zeal to sell stuff” day.

I’ll probably be buying some anyway, though. Thanksgiving is a good time for shooting, what with all the family coming over.

Now if one of your relatives happens to be injured by a firearm in any way, the police have documented evidence of intent to harm. Whoops! =)

It doesn’t quite have the emotional resonance that the national “Ditch Your Too- Big-To-Fail Bank” Day had, does it? Emotional resonance or no, I’ll have to take a pass or claim an exemption since I just picked up 1,000 rounds of 5.56.

    1. avatar Ralph says:

Only 1000 rounds? That’s not mainlining, that’s just chipping.

  6. avatar Eric S. says:

I think this is more like “National Make-it-look-like-there’s-an-ammo-shortage-so-people-start-panic-buying-again Day”.

I buy enough ammo over the course of the year, thank you.
