Here’s the money shot from Mr. Boortz’s radio show, repeated by Mr. Ed twice: “We got too damn many urban thugs, yo, ruining the quality of life for everybody. And I’ll tell you what it’s gonna take. You people, you are – you need to have a gun. You need to have training. You need to know how to use that gun. You need to get a permit to carry that gun. And you do in fact need to carry that gun and we need to see some dead thugs littering the landscape in Atlanta.” The key point . . .

There is a missing dot between Neil urging Atlantans to arm themselves—legally—and the appearance of those dead thugs. Boortz did not say that armed Atlantans should only shoot people who put their lives in imminent danger. But, by the same token, he didn’t say that the thugs should be shot willy-nilly.

In fact, Ed asks the right questions about armed self-defense. Who, what, when, where and why. But he’s not ready, willing or able to listen to the answers.

No surprise there. Ed’s interpretation of Boortz’s comments as incitement to murder shows his profound and willful mischaracterization of self-defense as offense. Personally, I find that offensive.

8 Responses to Ed Show: Neal Boortz’s Gun Comments Make Him a Murderous Racist Insurrectionist

  1. Hell, you need to be armed just to drive in Atlanta these days. It’s like scenes from The Road Warrior there now.

    • One of the saddest/scariest/funniest underground videos I’ve ever seen was shot primarily on the darkened side streets of Atlanta. It’s called Crackheads Gone Wild.

  2. I love how Ed said that Neal’s comments were “racist”. Does that mean there is no such thing as white thugs or can the only thugs be black? That sounds more racist to me.

I don’t agree with a number of Neal’s viewpoints, but I totally agree with his take on guns. There are many times he praises self defense on his show.

    • I grow up in Cobb County GA(Northwest of Atlanta/Newts former Congressional District) and leared to shoot there. He was making racist comments to shock and get FREE publicity. It worked, Ed’s show, this site and others talked about the comments and drive hit to his website and radio program.

  3. “he didn’t say that the thugs should be shot willy-nilly.”

Of course not. Shooting a thug in the willy is especially hard at night or in the heat of battle. At least with some thugs, the willy shot requires pinpoint — and I do mean pinpoint — accuracy. So, although emasculating an attacker is a laudable objective, I prefer shooting center mass. Now if somebody can tell me what a nilly shot is, I’ll try it and report back to y’all.

  4. I spent a lot of time in IRAQ and for anyone who has not seen what the destruction of weapons can cause, Well it is absolutely irresponsible to promote violence of any kind!!!!

    • What were you doing in Iraq? I don’t really have a problem with the guns over here, I have a much bigger problems with the large explosive devices. 99% of these guys can’t hit sh!t.
