51 Responses to Question of the Day: What Did I Forget?

  1. MREs, water, thinsulate blanket, hand and toe warmers. Wife and kids. Um, on a side note that wallet is going to give you hip dysplasia, get rid of some of that stuff in it.

    • That is why I went with the Slim Clip – very liberating to get rid of all that stuff you don’t need – Debit and Credit, DLicense, NRA card, perhaps 1 or 2 others – and some cash on the other side…

  2. It’s pictures like this one that reminds me how bad it is to live in Chicago. I can’t even legally carry a full sized folding knife. So I’m forced to carry my “working” knife and is a bit harsh on my pockets. Counting the days til I move back to Florida…

  3. Hmmm… A lot depends on where you are going. If you are running errands and the blue thing is your cell, and the thingamabob between the keys and the wallet is a flashlight… Can’t tell what the black leather item between the magazine and the blue thing is…
    Perhaps holsters?
Or… did you leave it all laying an my sidewalk and forget to actually take any of it with you?

    • Pretty sure the blue thing is the cell phone. RF, how about IDing what’s in the pic so we can figure out what you SHOULD be carrying?

I’ll take a crack at it:
      9mm
      pocket folder
      extra mag
      pocket holster for Ruger?
      phone?
      wallet
      ??? (maybe it’s a flashlight)???
      keys
      .380

  4. Left to right:

Springfield XD-M .45, Spyderco folding knife, spare XD-M mag (13 rounds), sunglasses, iPhone, wallet, Browning Catalyst flashlight, keys, Ruger LC9

  5. Sticking with spare mag for the LC9 (so I got the gun wrong) – same diff. In any case, if it isn’t that, then the only thing that would make this a party is a stack of ones and a stripper.

  6. With all the shit i tend to carry in my pockets, I’m hoping that Molle web gear becomes acceptable business attire. That, or the dreaded Man-Purse.

  7. I would carry a can of pepper spray well before I carried a backup gun.

Unless you are doing some serious H2H training, you need an option for those situations where you can’t get the hell out of dodge, but the threat has also not reached the lethal force threshold.

The probability of using a can of pepper is WAY higher than the probability of needing a BUG.

  8. Diapers, wipes, change of clothes? Lip gloss, gum, water bottle? Oh wait, that’s what I never leave the house without.

  9. (3) fragmentation grenades
    (2) flash bangs
    (1) tactical nail clipper
    (4) packs Reeses peanut butter cups (I like Reese’s)

    • BIC lighter!!!

Portable, reliable, weatherproof fire that can sit for decades and still work every time. I’ve found ones around my house from the ’70s and they still work like a charm.

(I posted this previously, but “it didn’t take”.)

  10. First aid?
    IBD?
    multi-tool?
    pepper spray?
    BUPS (back up pepper spray)
BUW (back up wallet – to fake out a robber)?
    Fire extinguisher?
    BUFE?
    Portable defibrillator?
    SPOT beacon?
    back up ammo?
    armed bodyguard?
    flame thrower?
    BUFT?
man servant to carry all this stuff?
    A sense of proportion?
