Irresponsible Gun Owner of the Day: RI State Rep. Peter Petrarca

It’s been over 100 days since I applied for a concealed carry permit in Providence. Discretion being the better part of valor, I pass this story on without comment. No punches pulled. It speaks for itself. From boston.com:

State Rep. Peter Petrarca was charged with firing a gun in a confined area in connection with a Dec. 11 incident outside a nightclub he co-owns. The Lincoln Democrat says the .38 caliber handgun was in his pocket when it accidentally discharged as he reached in to get his keys. No one was hurt. A city lawyer tells The Providence Journal the charge was dismissed after authorities determined the discharge was an accident . . . [Petrarca] agreed to surrender his firearms license and to contribute $500 to the state’s violent crime fund.

Seems like Peter almost shot off his namesake.

Guns for me but not for thee!  Heck, I’m surprised he even bothered with the license part in the first place.

Irony alert: Petrarca is a personal injury lawyer specializing in every type of injury known to man — except gunshots. I sense a mid-career change a-comin’.
