Fusible.com reports that moniker.com has brokered the sale of guns.com for $800 thousand. Fusible says the price “shattered” the 2010 record for .com domains, costing its unidentified buyer more than double the price paid for the next site on the hit list (PartySupplies.com @ $360 thousand). And what did the mystery buyer of guns.com get for their money? Fusible says the site clocked 13,000 unique visitors in January 2010, down from 30,000 uniques in January 2009. In case you were wondering, the not-quite-a-month-old website called thetruthaboutguns.com is currently running at about 15,000 unique visits per month. Not that we can use Google AdSense to monetize our success. Anyway, “As far as the search engines, GunBroker.com ranks at the top with over 1.5 million unique visitors per month for the search term ‘guns’. ImpactGuns.com gets nearly half a million visitors, followed by NRA.org with almost 200,000 visitors.” [hat tip to our own Justin Berkowitz]
